My dell Inspiron 1525 4,5,t,r,f,g,v And d keys are not working. can anyone ... If a group of keys fails it usually means that the keyboard matrix is broken. ... I have a dell vostro 3400, and I can connect to any wifi network, and while ... to it, but they cannot get internet through it (even when my laptop gets it ... but I have no idea how to access the log it should produce... any ideas? .... Step 1:
On some laptops it may be difficult to locate and activate the "Num Lock" key. Depending on the laptop, it may be hidden as a function where you have to press two keys. Most of the time, a laptop keyboard is just like a full desktop computer keyboard and it has a "Num Lock" key on it. Most people do not realize the "Num Lock" key is on their laptop keyboard because it barely serves a purpose without a full numeric keypad.

Press the "Num Lock" key on the laptop at the top, right of the keyboard. Press the "Num Lock" key and the "Fn" key simultaneously if the above does not work. Press "Fn" and "F11" simultaneously on the keyboard to activate the "Num Lock" function. Some laptops, like Toshiba, do have a "Num Lock" key. The shortcut for G3 Mac laptops it is "F5," and on G4 Mac laptops it is "F6."

The keyboard is made that limited to no service can be done, replacement of the entire keyboard is required. Short term solution is use external keyboard if available.

The keyboard maybe faulty.
Connect an external keyboard to youe laptop and if all the key work on this keyboard then most like the laptop keyboard is faulty.
If this external keyboard also malfunctions then the keyboard controller chip on the laptop motherboard is faulty and it would not be worth repairing as this is an old model laptop.

Some keys on my fujitsu lifebook stopped working so temporarily solved problem by plugging in a desktop keyboard to the usb port.

locate the FN key and the touchpad key usually an F key(F1-F12) press and hold down the FN key and the touchpad key together, release the keys and check the touch pads.

The product key on the back of your laptop is more then likely for your operating system e.g XP/Vista/Windows 7 you will need to purchase a product key for works most manufactures install it without a product key on a trial version when they sell the laptop.

If you connect a laptop projector or external monitor before you boot up your laptop, the video most likely will go directly to that external device. To have both the laptop LCD and projector you will need to press the Function key that has the monitor/laptop symbole (this key will be a dual function key and you will need to press the Fn key first and then the Function key with the monitor/laptop symbole. This Function can be any key between F3 and F12, it depends on the brand of the laptop.
When you press this key it will toggle between
LCD only
External monitor/projector only
or both LCD and external monitor/projector
