To clean your Kenmore Elite SM 9711174 washing machine, you can follow these steps: 1. Clean the exterior of the machine: Wipe down the exterior of the washing machine with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Be sure to dry it thoroughly to prevent any water damage. 2. Clean the drum: Mix a solution of 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of water and pour it into the detergent dispenser. Run the machine on the hottest and longest cycle with an extra rinse. This will help to remove any built-up detergent residue or mildew from the drum. 3. Clean the detergent dispenser: Remove the detergent dispenser and soak it in warm, soapy water for 10-15 minutes. Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub away any buildup or debris, and rinse it thoroughly before replacing it. 4. Clean the lint filter: The lint filter is located near the bottom of the machine. Remove it and rinse it under running water to remove any lint or debris. If the filter is particularly dirty, soak it in warm, soapy water for a few minutes before rinsing it. 5. Run a cleaning cycle: Some washing machines have a self-cleaning cycle that you can use to help remove any buildup or mildew. Check the user manual for instructions on how to run a cleaning cycle on your specific machine.
By following these steps, you should be able to clean your Kenmore Elite SM 9711174 washing machine and keep it running smoothly.
There are a few possible reasons why your dishwasher might be washing for an extended period of time:
The dishwasher may be running a cycle that is longer than usual, such as a heavy-duty wash cycle or a cycle that includes a drying phase.
There may be an issue with the dishwasher's sensors, which could cause the cycle to run longer than it should.
There could be a problem with the dishwasher's water supply, such as low water pressure or a blockage in the water line.
The dishwasher's pump or motor may be malfunctioning, which could cause the cycle to run longer than it should.
To troubleshoot the issue, you could try running a different cycle to see if the problem persists. You may also want to check the dishwasher's manual for any troubleshooting tips or contact the manufacturer for assistance. In the meantime, you can try stopping the cycle manually if it is still running after an extended period of time.
Hey Karen,
Try using straight Clorox instead of detergent...(with a couple old white towels that you can spare).. then run the "clean unit" cycle with bleach - makes mine smell clean... :).. then run a rinse cycle with nothing added,,, clean machine and clean smelling..
You could purchase front loader washing machine cleaning chemical or soap. My experience with cleaning chemical and soap was to just masking smell, not fixing the problem. I did a few search and came out with using vinegar, baking powder and bleach is most effective way to clean and get smell out of washing machine. ie run cleaning cycle with 1 or 2 cup of vinegar, let it run for 20 ~ 30 minutes and pause for 30 minutes (it help break it up) let resume and finish cycle. Run cleaning cycle again with baking powder. If your machine don't have cleaning cycle use hot water and heavy load setting. Hope this help you.
do you get a lot of suds when you run it without soap and clothes ? if so put about a cup or 2 of vegetable oil into the washer and run a cycle . soap suds will adhere to the oil and it will help it to remove from washer . after you can run a clean cycle with bleach or white distilled vinegar.
You may have some detergent residue inside the tub assembly. You should run a tub clean cycle and use some washing machine cleaner. You can get that at any hardware store. If you don't have a tub clean setting, use the sanitary wash cycle without any laundry inside. You must use the hot water setting for this to work. If you haven't done this in a long time, you may have to run this cycle at least once a week for a month to really clean the machine properly.

after cycle completes always leave waher door cracked open when washer is not in use ,,, reccomend running an affresh cycle once every month or if u notice stagnant water smell the more often you wash with hot water the less chances of smell
Remove the filter from the lower front section of the wash tub and clean it out. Then start a wash cycle with no dishes and no soap. Once the water fills and starts washing, open the door and pour 1 quart of white vinegar in the wash tub. Close the door to resume the wash cycle. Let the machine run a complete cycle to the end to help clean out the water ports.
