My singer 4423 has 3 needle positions.. Unfortunately the centre position has shifted to the left somehow and is now off centre to the foot. This is partly corrected by shifting the needle position guage but even on the furthest setting to the right its still off centre. Does anyone know how to correct this.. It was fine before but and has recently started this off centre position..

Change the width to zero. This is what fixed mine! When you turn the width dial to a higher number the needle position moves wider.

Go online to google type in singer sewing machine 4423 workshop manual and download the pdf page on adjustments

How do alter the needle position on the Singer Talent. At the moment it's sewing right of centre. I have bought a 'ruffled foot' but the needle hits the needle slot

If your machine has that capability, the manual should have instructions on how to move the needle. If not, then your machine may need adjustment.

Needle threader won't work on my Singer 4423

Hi there,

The needle threader hook is very tiny and easily bent or damaged.
The needle threader is designed not to turn, if the needle is not at its most upper position to protect the threader - Turn hand wheel until needle reaches its highest position.
Needle not alining with threader hook - Replace needle.
Threader hook bent - Replace with new needle threader hook.

Hope this helps.

Read more from the link I attatched.

Good luck & have a nice day!

Automatic needle threader will not work

Why won't my needle position stay in selected position?

You have to drop the lever above the needle until it clicks to lock it in place

Singer featherweight model 324 - the needle position is in the left position and I don't know how to centre it - or is it supposed to sew in the left position

i looked up the manual and didn't see anything about needle position. Here's a copy so you can read at your leisure.

I have a singer 4552 (portable) and I am having a prblem getting the zipper foot attached. Also I am having a problem getting the design stiching to work. I can get the red design stiches to work but not...

Hi. Here's how to attached the zipper foot.

To Attach the Zipper Foot
1. Loosen the large screw at the left of the presser bar and remove presser foot (You do not need to remove the screw).
2. Hook the prongs of the Zipper Foot around the presser bar from the back, and tighten the presser-bar screw.
3. If the raised edge (zipper or cording) is to the right of the needle, adjust the Zipper Foot by loosening the thumb screw at the back of the foot and sliding foot to the left of the needle. If the raised edge is to the left, slide foot to right.
4. With presser foot down, check its position by lowering needle into side notch, making sure it just clears the foot.
5. Tighten thumb screw to lock foot into position.
When raised edge is placed to right -- adjust foot to left of needle.
When raised edge is placed to left -- adjust foot to right of needle.
