How do I set automatic timer on AC1 Hozelock watering system?

incorrect operation. 1. Remove screws and back cover. 2. Insert two 1.5V 'C' Alkaline batteries. (Check + and - are correct.). IMPORTANT: Rechargeable batteries must not be used. 3. Replace batteries each season. (max 12 months use) MAINTAINING THE WATERPROOF SEAL 1. Ensure that rubber seal is positioned correctly. 2. Replace back cover and screw down tightly. 3. Repeat each time back cover is removed. HOW TO PROGRAMME THE TIMER There are two watering operations - Automatic and Manual. AUTOMATIC OPERATION Automatic ON 1. Turn dial clockwise to AUTO START at actual desired start time (e.g. To start watering each day at 15H00 you must set your AC1 when the actual time of day is 15H00). The timer has now memorised the auto start time until it is reset and will operate every day at this time. Use of manual ON or OFF does not cancel memory. 2. Turn dial anti-clockwise to: a) Chosen duration for once-a-day operation, or b) Chosen programme for all other watering frequencies (see table). The timer will now automatically run the selected program repeatedly until a new option is selected. GB 2 Automatic OFF Turn dial to Manual ON or OFF. If you wish to return to Automatic watering re-select the desired watering programme. NOTE your auto start time remains memorised until a new one is selected. Changing start time Turn dial clockwise to AUTO START at new chosen start time. Changing watering programme Turn dial to new programme. Do not turn dial to AUTO START unless a new start time is desired. MANUAL OPERATION Manual ON Turn dial anti-clockwise to ON. Water will flow for 60 minutes maximum or until turned to OFF setting. Note: After 60 minutes water shuts off. Knob will still point to ON and needs to be manually set to OFF or to desired number of automatic watering minutes. Manual OFF Turn dial clockwise to OFF. Note: Operation is only audible when valve opens and closes. To check that timer is working, switch to manual ON or OFF to hear valve operate. CONNECTING THE TIMER TO THE TAP Use supplied adapters if required. Tighten to ensure no leaks

I need a night light timer that I can set to be on for 50 minutes and off for 10 minutes and repeat this every hour for 24 hours.

1) If you have programmable timer, then it would require 24 ON and 24 OFF settings, with down-to-the minute programming.
1 ON for each hour.
1 OFF for each hour.
Following link shows Grasslin 50-60 Hz 230Volt din rail timer with 50 memory slots. 16 amp at 230 volts
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/talento_371_372_371_mini_plus_data.pdf

2) If you have 24 hour mechanical timer with dial, it would need 24 ON trippers and 24 off trippers with down-to-the minute schedule.
No timer has that capability.

3) There is C8800 series cycle timer. 120-240Volt 60Hz for US market. 20 amp at 120volts, or 20 amp at 240Volt. Chose 1 hour cycle, then insert 100 trippers and leave 20 blank spaces.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/027-C8800-sprinkler-cycle-timer.pdf

4) There are percentage cycle timers.
For example CT2000. Rated 120Volts 60 Hz for US market.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/CT2000_sell-sheet-with-wiring.pdf
Select 1 hour cycle, and 16% or 84% percentage to choose ON or OFF

Everytime I put the pre-sets for the timer, it does'nt keep time. COuld you assist me or provide me with someone who can repair?

I can assist you.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Tork-timers-and-manuals.html#8000

The 'pre-sets' are confusing.
Do you mean tabs or trippers?

Tork 8601 is a 60 minute cycle timer.
The dial should make 1 full revolution each 60 minutes.
Trippers or tabs located on dial are pushed up or down to set on-off schedule.

If dial is running slow, then clock motor has gone bad.
If dial is running on time, then trippers are worn down or timer parts are worn down.
Either case when timer stops functioning, buy a new timer for $110.
If the clock motor was available, you'd probably spend $60 for the motor.

We have a fan 60 minute push button timer we purchased and installed with a 3-wire system. WE need to purchase another one but they all have 4 wires now. Where can we purchase a 3-wire one.

It sounds like you have mechanical push-button type timer.
I need more information to avoid guessing which timer is best for your situation.

I'm not sure what a 3-wire system is?
Add a comment
1) How many switches control same fan
2) What color wires inside box.

Is this
3) low-horsepower bathroom fan?
4) other fan, for example: higher horsepower attic fan, 3/4 horsepower industrial kitchen fan, or 1-horsepower whole house fan?
5) Is this your home or is fan for continual commercial use?

6) Is this a countdown timer that turns fan OFF automatically after 60 minutes?
7) Or what kind of timer are you looking for.

Open following link for list of home-use countdown timers and horsepower ratings of countdown timers.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Countdown-timer-horsepower-ratings.html

Spring-wound timers do not require extra Neutral wire, and can control 1 HP whole-house fan.
The push-button timers each require Neutral wire to run electronics inside timer, and they range from 1/6 HP to 3/4 HP which will work for any bathroom fan.

How to set times

You posted under Tork 8000 series cycling timer
Open following link to identify timer for sure and download wiring and instruction manuals.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Tork-timers-and-manuals.html#8000

Cycling timers have built-in trippers (or tabs) located on outer edge of dial
Lift each tripper up and rotate it toward center of dial to set on-off times.
The dial rotates as time passes, and the trippers move lever that turns load on-off.

For example if you have 8601 timer, the dial cycles every 60 minutes or once per hour.
Each tripper represents 1 minute.
So if you want NO terminals turned ON for 2 minutes each hour, then move 2 successive trippers up.
If you want NC terminals turned ON for 58 minutes, then leave 58 successive trippers down.

When setting the timer (model 12-817) power is activated between the hour choices (2 hr, 4 hr etc) but the power goes off when the dial is turned to the actual hour selection. If left between the hour...

What timer is this?
http://www.electricsupplyonline.com/prod/intermatic-springwound_timers.php

Sounds like a defective timer.
I have three Intermatic spring wound timers that are used every day, and never have that problem.
After all, how does the timer 'know' when it's set on the 'hour' since the dial does not have stop points at specific times?

Switch not ticking after setting time. model Woods 59717 60 minute indoor in wall timer

Spring wound countdown timers turn on the load after dial is turned.
If your timer is not counting down, and turn knob is not rotating back to the start position, then timer is no good.
This timer counts down even if it's not connected to electricity, so the problem is not wiring.

Calibrate clock

http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Tork-8000Series.pdf

Tork 8600 is variable cycle timer.
Each revolution of dial is 60 minutes, 30 minutes or 6 minutes depending on model.
60 minute timer has 2 models, 120V and 240V.
Other models are 120V.
If clock is not keeping time, then clock motor is bad.
I don't have a source for clock motor, and suspect that a new timer is purchased and then installed into existing box.

Link below sells 8601 60 minute 120Volt
http://www.weisd.com/store2/tork/torktimer1.php

To set times, the dial has tabs located around dial.
Tabs are tilted in or out
Tab out = NC terminal has power
Tab in = NO terminal has power
