This is a somewhat common problem, believe it or not. Due to lack of preventive maintenance, the wheels will sometimes work themselves loose. If caught early, the loose nuts may merely need tightening to proper torque specs to solve the problem. After a certain point, damage is done to the wheels and lugs and nuts, due to the "flapping" of the loose wheel. Past this point, parts must be checked and replaced.
Whatever you do, have the wheels and lugs checked by a competent mechanic ASAP! This is a serious safety hazard that could turn deadly on the road. Is a new wheel worth more than your life? No it isn't, you can afford it!
Make sure chain tension on the bar is correct and then the 2 nuts holding the bar is correct, Youtube has alot of videos on how to set chain tension as well as the Oregon website
Hi best way to find out is to take the caseing off and find out,and check that its not come lose, and maybe if it has consider useing lock tight hope this was some help, all the best.
there is no toque setting on wheel nuts, if they are comeing lose then check the threads and replace the nuts with new ones, maybe check the rims you have on the car, are they standard if not then they may be the problem.
Try some teflon tape.. Remove the cassette and apply 3 to 5 even wraps on the thread and then install the cassette back on and tighten.. This should keep the neck from backing out...
The chain adjuster does not actually hold the guide bar, that is done by the bar nut/nuts, the main reason for chains coming lose is inadiquate chain oil to the bar/chain, does the chain look dry? it can also be the result of what you are cutting, if it is very dirty timber or railway sleepers.
once the nuts are off and the car is jacked up and supported take a big hammer and smash the back inside of the rim...keep turning wheel and hiting it till it comes lose
that is some sort of factory issue.. I have the same problem with my 1987 ranger... get a locking wheel nut for all the tires, not a cure but at least your tire will not fall off... I just keep checking them every few months or before a road trip... just to be safe...
