After finding out the cd changer part doesn't move properly with a loose dry worn out belt, I used an hair elastic from my daughter to fix the unit, works 100% now.

Mine is a sl-mc410 but I got 1& 1/16 OD x15/16 ID x1/16 wall o-ring at Ace and totally fixed mine. Be sure to remove all the discs before taking the cover off.

Take the belt to your local ace hardware and look for an o-ring that is slightly smaller than the stretched out belt. this will work just as well.

Where can i get the drive belt for a technics sl mc400

Thank you malicious me I went to ace hardware and got an "O" ring the exact size you called for, put it on and bingo everything works like new. Thank you five years after your post. I had to pay a whopping 41 cents for mine!

Tech SL-MC410. Continously displays "Checking Disc"

When the unit is saying "Checking discs" and neither goes further nor turns off (just says "Off" but doesn't), the reason is still the main belt (accessible from the top as soon as you lift the cover) that is too loose. When the belt is way too loose, the unit doesn't move at all, if the belt is little too loose, the player-unit will move a bit, but there is not enough torque on the gears to reach the end position (where the player unit is secured against movements).

When i turn on my technics cd player model number sl-mc409 it comes accross the screen f-26 and won't do anything. what does f-26 mean

I've just bought a used changer, that shows the same error. The instuction says " unplug the changer from its outlet, replug it in an turn the changer ON again"
That doesn't help in my case.

Won't play cds

I have the same problem. When you turn it, after a while it justs displays "ERROR". I opened the player and I think the player is stuck on the left hand of the interior. When I lift the lever on the front of the player it starts moving, but on returning to the same place it gets stuck again. I checked to see if any items were broken but that does not seem to be the problem. I suspect that it is caused by worn out items. Any suggestions, does Technics still support this player?
