Will not scan. Error C:\ProgramFilesEPSON\escndv\es006c is displayed. Shows also ESCNDV.Exe

Do a complete reinstall.
1. Click Start, go to Control Panel, click System.
2. Click Hardware > Device Manager (XP). Click Device Manager (Vista and 7)
3. Look for Imaging Devices, right click on your Epson scanner and click uninstall.
4. Disconnect the usb cable from the printer.
5. Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs (XP) Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Vista and 7)
6. Look for Epson Scan and click Change/Remove/Uninstall.
7. Restart your computer.
8. Download the SCANNER software from the Epson website. If you have the disc, you can also run it.
9. Connect the usb cable back to the printer and computer.
10. Try scanning.
If that does not resolve your issue, you might need to remove Epson Scan from the Registry and reinstall the software again.

I have escndv.exe error problem with 4490 scanner. I've reinstalled the drivers and it still comes up

Hi there,

The first thing to try is uninstall the Epson Scan. Via either the start
menu item if one exits or from the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.

Reboot computer.

Install the latest driver from the epson web site -

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=50666&infoType=Overview

Latest is 2.68A for WindowsXP, etc.
You should go ahead and download a fresh copy from the web, your copy may be
corrupted.

After the install, reboot.

If that does not solve the problem.
You got to go deeper.

Remove the Epson scan. (again).

Backup your registry.
Edit the registry and remove all references to the Epson Scan.
Remove the folders and entries for Epson Scan in \Windows\Twain_32\

Reboot:
Install Epson scan.

Good Luck!!

Escndv.exe problem connected with Epson scanner 4490 Photo

http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=64090

Go here: C:\Document
s and Settings\[username]\Application Data\EPSON\ESCNDV\ES0058

and delete any image files in that folder. The last folder might have a different number depending on your scanner. It should start working again.

If you can't see that folder - click on My Computer - in the menu click on Tools and select 'Folder options..." Click on tab 'View' and select 'Show hidden files and folders'

You should now be able to see 'Application Data' in Docs and Settings...

I have an Epson Perfection 3590 Photo and when I tried to open it this appears:"escndv.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the...etc." I have already downloaded the Epson Scan...

This file that cannot be found "DICElib.dll" is actually installed by the LaserSoft SilverFast driver that comes with both scanner models. This file gets placed in the Epson Scan folders during installation because the LaserSoft SilverFast Driver works in conjunction with the Epson Scan driver for communication to the scanner. The solution to this issue is to uninstall and re-install the LaserSoft SilverFast Driver and NOT the Epson Scan driver.

On the "Start Here" poster it says that you have to install the Epson scan driver first before installing the LaserSoft SilverFast. Other possible causes are that the file has become corrupt, has been moved or has been deleted.

If this will not work, please call epson technical support. They have troubleshooting steps for that type of issue that cannot be disclosed here.

Please let them know if you have any other scanners or digital cameras installed on your system. If so, provide the model and manufacturer.

Everytime scanner option is selected an error message pops up

I Had the same issue, worked on it for weeks, was told it was registry issue, I reinstalled the software, said it was hardware problem....THEN I FOUND THIS AND as simple as it seems, IT WORKED.
Please follow the instructions below to help resolve this.
  1. Go to My Computer, by right-clicking the Start button. Select Explore
  2. Double-click the C: drive, then navigate to the following folders or location on the hard drive: C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\EPSON\ESCNDV\ES00XX (where XX is any numbers or letters)
  3. Look for a BMP file or any file in this location and delete this file OR FILES THAT ARE .BMP.
  4. , can be xxxxx.BMP ( where xxxxx is the name)
Note::
  1. %username% above stands for your PC username.
  2. The Application Data folder is hidden by default, to un-hide this folder do the following in your Windows Explorer window go to the Tools pull down menu and select Folder Options

Click on the View tab, look for Hidden files and folders.

Select Show hidden files and folders option

    Click OK.

you should now be able to see the Application Data folder continue in to the folder path above.
(You may have to follow the steps again to turn off the Show hidden files and folders feature. )
  3. Removal and reinstallation of Epson SCAN does not clear out this file.
