BOOT OPEN but not open warning light on dashboard say this with red warning light

I have a Jaguar S Type I have a problem with the boot. On the dashboard it says boot is open and there is a red light on the dashboard showing boot open. The boot is not open, when I open the boot and close again the boot still says open on the dash also there is a red light which will not go off because it says all the time boot open. I am unable to put the alarm on the car as it will not allow me to lock the car. I have noticed when I try to close the boot slowly the red light and the BOOT OPEN notice stops for a second. I have disconnected the battery trying to reset the alarm but it does not do anything, no matter what I do the boot open sign will not go out and the red light stays on. The dashboard Boot Message just Flashes all the time, I am unable to drive the car as it keeps draining the battery if I leave it connected. The boot is shut completely and nothing is causing an obstruction. Is there a boot sensor that may be faulty, and if so can anyone please tell me how to get repaired, as I have to go to work in my car. Would this fault show up in the car management system Please let me know if you can help. Thank you John

The sensor is located and probably built into the boot latch. The sensor is good because the light goes off if you close it slowly. the latch is just worn out with that particular part. Replace the latch. It is not hard to replace if you have a few hand tools.

Meaning of obscure red dashboard warning symbol on BMW 330d sport

Could you possibly comment below with a photo of this light? I'm not sure if it is the boot lid light as that is usually the image of a small car with the boot lid open. Also the noise would keep going if the boot is open as that's it job. A Red light means it needs looking at as soon as you can as it is possibly something serious. Does it have any other marks, letters or symbols inside the shape? This can help identify it.

Red light indicator on . It says "Boot Open" What is this?

"Boot Open" is how they say "Your Trunk is Open" in the UK.

If your trunk isn't open, then the switch that indicates the trunk is closed may be bad.

Hand brake and boot catch

if you open your boot at the bottom in the middle of boot and look for excess wearing on the catch as this has to be cvlosed for all of the central locking system to be working. if this is not the case and there are no visdible scratches on the actual pin then you will find it to be a computer fault and would recommend you go to dealer.
