SOURCE: How do i reset my bios hdd on toshiba satellite

Just open the back cover and remove the RTC battery and it that will all reset the BIOS settings including password to manufacturer's default.By the way, HDD has nothing more to do with the BIOS. The BIOS just sets what device will boot first in terms of drives and monitors and anticipates the failure of your HDD by using SMART.

SOURCE: Unlock hdd/ssd password on toshiba satellite

Step 1Turn on your laptop. Press the "F2" key when the first loading screen appears. This will load the BIOS. You'll only have a second or two to press this key before Windows begins to boot. If you're not fast enough and the Windows screen comes up, simply restart and try again.
Step 2Use the right-arrow key to highlight the "Security" tab. This is the third tab from the right.
Step 3Press the down-arrow to enter the Security Settings menu. Scroll down to "User Password," listed beneath the "HDD/SSD Password Select." This will open a pop-up window with three text fields.
Step 4Type your current password into the "Current Password" field. Press "Enter." Type your new password into the "New Password" field and press "Enter." Type the same password again into the "Confirm New Password" field and press "Enter." The "Password" window will close.
Step 5Press the "F10" key to save your new settings and exit the BIOS. Your laptop will now boot normally.
TipHDD password can be changed as many times as necessary. However, once you enable password protection, you can never delete it.

How to unlock toshiba satellite laptop BIOS and HDD

If you are the original owner Toshiba will reset the bios for a fee and it is not cheap, they may include the HDD reset, if not! www.ebay.com type password, or hard drive password. I would check bios password, probably a lot cheaper if you can find the right seller, also check www.download.com some software may be free.

If you get prompted for the HDD password when turning on the computer, and you do not know it you will need to call Toshiba support. Circumventing an HDD password is not an easy task.
Also there where Toshiba laptops, model 6100, that when the user was suddenly prompted for the HDD password Toshiba replaced the HDD under warranty.

HDD PASSWORD problem

I have had this happen to me too, and found no other way to resolve this other than just reformat the hdd and reinstall the OS. If you search further, you might be able to find a simpler fix; but if not, reinstalling your Operating System will definitely fix your issue.
