Can you please help me set up my labtop too my wireless

You dont need internet connection

unplug the power cable on your modem, and your wireless adapter for about 20 sec, then plug them back in. This will give a brand new fresh connection from your internet service provider to your modem and your wireless adapter. Also power down the labtop and then reboot.

If that doesnt work you can always try updating the drivers on your labtop for your internet card.

go to Drivers.com

They have a free utility where you can scan your comptuer and find all outdated drivers, then download the new ones and install them.

Other things that can be effecting it is electrical interference. Having your labtop next to or near any big appliance, or tv, can reduce the single some.

They also make bigger antennas u can buy for your wireless adapter that will increase the range, and single some.

Check you internet provider is on your Router Wan Setup and select obtain IP address to identify internet relay are accessible.
If not reset your Router.

From what I understand, your router is not working, is it new or did you have it working before your difficulty?
If it is not new try this, plug you modem into you router and your router into your computer. Pull the power supply plug out of the modem for one minute and them plug it back in. When all of your lights are green and solid, reboot your computer. When it comes back up see if you can get on line. This has worked for me many times. Now if it doesn't help...call your ISP (Internet Service Provider) like comcast, verizon, whomever...and they can take over your machine and correct the setting in a matter of two minutes...You'll save a lot of headaches...And you are paying for the SERVICE, right !

what exactly do you plug directly in the wall? what kind of connector does it use? an 'f' connector on a coax cable or RJ45 (like a phone plug? if you are using a cable connection you have to have a modem for that to work. if you are using a Ethernet cable tied directly to a jack on the wall you'll have to be sure routers are allowed to connect. or register the router with your provider. be sure your wireless router is getting an address form the internet provider. with out more details i can't give you any more specifics.

The wireless is not picking up the speedtouch. So its either the speedtouch wireless connection not working or the laptop one.

But if ur getting internet thru the wireless on the laptop then its definately the speedtouch.

Jus try powering off and on the speedtouch. That way the laptop should connect to it as it comes on.

make sure u have latest updates and drivers on it and labtop unplug it plug back in ok so it resets then look for it on labtop the d link

go start/control panel /wireless assistant configure it there !


make shure to askyour husband if is cryption for router is wep or wap it makes a difference there but first configure it in the control panel!
