What is the truth in this tale? A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago. It was raining, though not excessively when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence! When she explained to the Police Officer what had happened, he told her something that every driver should know -
NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON..

Remove negative cable from battery, connect a test light to negative terminal, opposite end off light to negative battery post. ( let sit for 3 to 5 minutes). Then start pulling fuses, when the light goes out that's your bad circuit. God-Bless! Its worth a try.
Now by what you have said in the rain your car is nearly dying on you. Check whether the splashed water reach your electronics especially the distributor. Also when surely your car is nearly dying on you the power steering which is working with a belt on a crank shaft pulley reduced the turns and cause the power steering pump not to give the needed pressure to the steering. Also there is another reason for heavy steering,is when you pass from water and water goes on your belt which might a bit loose slips against the pulley and loose pressure.
This is not related to rain, the APP or the acclerator pedal went to a fail safet APP1 or APP2 did not correlate, but this is only for TPS fault and since then you have recovered The steering is power related or charging related,do not interfere with the charging system ECU okay to cover it but the battery can handle the rain, something on the battery has conducted power go to the positvie terminal in the engine compartment and see if the 30amp or 40amp fuse is open it has to be tested
Not true the door is not mechanical it is cosmetic. Take your complaint higher up the chain at VW. I am sure that they will not want to see a two year old car with rust as it reflects very badly on the company image.
When the battery went dead you engine control module lost all learned programming, drive it for a few weeks as normal to restore this and the mileage will be back to normal.
check the wires to the fuel pump if they have rubbed against something and the insulation wore through hitting bumps or rain could cause it to short and kick the relay and resets again and will start
