I have Rinnai Glaxy 3 burnner gas heater. It doesn't lit or it lit for a while and then extinguish. How can I service or clean my self

Cleaning of your model Rinnai Vented Gas Heater is not difficult. But will require the removal the front of the heater's cabinet.

What you'll need: A can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with). A vacuum with a hose and brush attachment (a Shop Vac is perfect for this, if you have one), and soft, clean rags.

To walk you thru all the proper steps of cleaning the interior of the unit, I have provided a link to the Owner's Manual for your model, in case you have misplaced yours. You can download and print the manual for future reference. What you're looking for starts on page 35.

I hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Have a Rinnai Energy Saver 551 F gas heater. When the heater is switched on it then turns itself off after approximately 5 minutes

Stuart, I beleive the model number you have is Rinnai, Model 151 Portable Gas Heater (Meaning it's flue-less). If that is the case, the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS), which is part of the Pilot, may be clogged with dust, lint, pet hair, etc. In which case, cleaning it, with canned compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) can solve the problem. Also, cleaning the entire interior of the heater is a prudent thing to do, at least once a year. A vacuum cleaner that has a hose and brush attachment works well for this. To assist you, I have included a link to "How to clean your Pilot and Burner Assembly" Demonstration, as well as a link to the Owner's Manual for you Model Rinnai Portable Gas Heater.

Cleaning Demonstration: http://www.desatech.com/techDocs/Cleaning%20Demonstrations.pdf

Owner's Manual: http://www.rinnai.com.au/images/stories/operating_instructions/Heating/Portables/Portable_Radiant_Convectors.pdf

I hope this has helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Cheers!

Fault code 11 flashing started when the meter was replaced outside don't have a manual to tell what it is

Apparently, when they installed the new gas meter, they didn't purge all the air out of the gas line to your heater. So gas is not getting to the heater. Fault Code 11 is an Ignition Failure.

To help you even more, I am providing a link to your Owners Manual that you can download and print for future reference. http://www.rinnai.us/documentation/downloads/ES38_1004RFA_Manual.pd

Hope this helped to solve your problem. Please be kind enough to let me know.

What does it mean when the power light (the small round light on the front of the heater that indicates the heater is on) is red instead of green?

was reading a rinnai pdf today about this, green means that the unit has power the red means the burner is operating so it just tells you when the gas is going basically, may not be the same for this rinnai model but is on the energy saver 556 so hopefully that explains your heater for you it should be in the owners manual if you have one as pdf i was reading was manual for another rinnai if you don't have a manual you can try downloading just type heater name and model into your google search with manual mentioned there too should bring up a pdf or a link to manual

Visible flames

hello. This problem is a fire hazard. Phone your gas provider and tell them to send out a technician as it appears that your gas pressure is too high. This is a free service. Regards, Joe

Blinking 12 and I have no manual to indicate what that means.

A 12 code indicates a "Flame Failure" check that the gas valve on the right side of the unit is turned on. If you are using propane have you confirmed that the tank has fuel? You may be able to download the owners manual from the Rinnai website. If not you can contact themat 1-800 621-9419.
This is a great heater and the Rinnai people will be helpful. good luck!

Infared heater

When was the last time you cleaned the pilot? In your owners manual there is a cleaning procedure. If you can't find the manual, go to www.rinnai.us. You may be able to download one from their site.
