From the black screen:

1. Click the orange Firefox button in the upper-left corner of the browser window.
2. Select Options.
3. Make sure there is a check mark next to Add-On Bar.
4. A bar should appear along the bottom of the browser window. In the bottom left corner of the bar, click the red stop sign.
5. Click Disable on movies.netflix.com.
6. Press the back arrow to return to the Instantly Watch home page.
7. Try playing your movie or TV show again.

Try clearing data on browser, each are different so try googling steps to clean or clear data, if this does not work

Silverlight installed to play netflix on computers & laptops might be the problem.
The Silverlight plugin, which Netflix uses to play movies and TV shows on your computer.
This error is usually caused by one of three things:

• A computer setting preventing Silverlight from storing files it needs to play your movie or TV show
• An issue with the Silverlight plugin itself
• An issue with the content you're trying to play.
• Try re-installing uninstalling then reinstalling silverlight.

I started having this problem a few months ago with netflix playback getting 'skippy' after ~6+ months of smooth operation. I finally figured out: Went into my netflix web-admin panel on my Windows laptop. From there changed my SETTINGS for netflix: "PlayBack Settings" adn dropped it from "AUTO" Data usage per screen to "MEDIUM" (standard video quality, 0.7gb per hour). Bouf. Magic. Everything is working perfectly again - no more skipping. I think my netflix was trying to run at a higher setting (3gb/hour) and then downsampling it for my TV set (which is not able to show the higher res anyhow - it is only 32" screen) - so it was wasted bandwidth, and making the playback stink. I have two Sony TVs (KDL-46HX729 and KDL-55EX700) and suddenly three weeks ago, I got nothing but "Content Error" every time I tried to stream any Netlix content. All other internet content worked fine. I could see my Netflix queue and make changes to it, but couldn't view any title on either TV.
Netflix worked fine on all other devices. Netflix said all was fine on their end (after deactivating and reactivating the account on both TVs).
Sony said all was fine on their end (after factory reset).
ISP said all was fine with the line.
Router manufacturer said all was fine with the router. Speedtests revealed plenty of speed for streaming.
At some point, I also was told to change primary and secondary dns on the TVs to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). No effect.
Finally, Sony suggested I create a new (free trial) Netflix account and lo and behold that account worked fine. Netflix said I could just use that new account, although they could see nothing wrong with my old account. I was about to do that, but had the fear that this problem would just happen again and I'd be back to square one. Finally, deep in an internet search yesterday, I found someone who said they had fixed a similar problem by deleting their Netflix instant queue. I tried it (I was about to lose my queue anyway by switching to a brand new account). So, I deleted all items in my queue. Made no immediate difference, but I tried Netflix again after a few hours and IT SUDDENLY WORKED FINE. 24 hours now and Netflix is still fine on both TVs. My fingers are crossed. I suspect it has something to do with the way Sony TVs buffer the content; the large number of items in the queue were taking up space somehow.

Netflix doesn't cost much but you do have to pay for it. $7.00 a month for streaming and 8.00 if you want DVD's. If you are a memeber Netflix will help you @ netflix.com. Your tv has to be hooked to the internet.

Try the tv unplug,replug it back an hour later.The tv now,resetting back to factory setting.Go to tv Menu.Goto AUDIO setting,go down to reset,the Tuner board is now resetting.The tv should have sound now.Not than,the Tuner board have problems.Not the speakers,yes call the repairman.It'll cost half the price of a new tv.

have you downloaded any new software/games/audio/video in the last two weeks on the main pc w/router (that might be conflicting)..if so I would delete it....do not change wii or other computers connection settings....but on the main computer lets do this

3.accessories
4.system tools
5.system restore
6.we are going restore 1 full month...this means pick restore to earlier date....30 days back.......when it was working all fine.....click okay..once say ok again it will reboot by itself come on and will prompt you one more time click ok

it sounds like you need a mpeg codec to play dvd the software you are using doesnot need that to play dvds but windows does you could try a software like power dvd 6.0 this have a mpeg driver included windows can use.then media player can also play dvd using the codec from power dvd
