I have a model BBQ 075 traeger when I turned it to smoke I tried to set the p time, I couldn't get it to show the p setting, finally after pushing the button for awhile we got it set to p2, after awhile every thing shut off for 2-5 seconds then it starts again and runs for 30 second to maybe a minute, then stops again!! Any idea what it could be?

SOURCE: TV keeps turning off after 30 seconds

This is usually a sign that a function has not completed or a switch has stuck in an incorrect position. eject can only happen if the sensor (either optical or mechanical senses that a tape is present. The swich might be stuck or the sensor might be blocked or bad. You can open up the unit and try to determine if the sensors are not being blocked by any of the mechanical parts of the unit. You will need the service docs to show you where the components are located. I hope this helps. Shuttle83

SOURCE: Clock will run down to 1 second of the minute and microwave will stop

The surge probably didn't cause this. This common error indicates a problem in the convection damper circuit. It may be a defective damper switch, damper motor, or a jammed damper door. I have attached a drawing of a typical damper system. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can order parts for Sharp models from Tritronics at http://www.wehaveparts.com.

SOURCE: Traeger BBQ trips circuit breaker

Mine is doing the same thing, but it does it within seconds of turning it on. I'd assume you as well have the digital thermostat. I've narrowed it down to what I believe is the hot rod igniter (or the purple connector). Unplug it and it should eliminate tripping and order new part or get warranty part.

CAN YOU USE THE TRAEGER SMOKER TO HEAT SOMETHING WITHOUT GETTING A SMOKE FLAVOR

Yes, it is possible to use a Traeger smoker to heat something without getting a smoke flavor. One way to do this would be to use the "smoke" setting on the smoker to burn off any residual oils or flavors from previous smoking sessions, and then turn the setting to "high" or "bake" to heat the food without smoke. Another option would be to wrap the food in foil before heating it in the smoker, which can help to prevent smoke from permeating the food.
It's important to note that even if you don't use the smoke feature on the Traeger, there may be still some smoke flavor present in the food, as the wood pellets will produce some smoke when they're heated, so you may want to consider using an alternative heating source if you want to completely eliminate the smoke flavor.

MY traeger grill will start up and smoke and reach the set temp.but then after a short time it just stops feeding pellets and will not feed anymore pellets untill I turn off and start all over.

Are you sure you're waiting long enough? The way it works is that it shuts the auger on and off for designated times. You have to wait the designated interval (up to 135 seconds of inactivity). You can adjust this on some models as shown here: http://tipsforbbq.com/Definition/Traeger-P-Setting

What gas heat setting should I use to smoke a 13 pound turkey

Norman,
There are many factors that will dictate how your final product will turn out and how long it will take to cook. I personally smoke my turkeys at about 325°. A 13 pound bird will take 1.5 - 2 hours to finish at this temperature the way I prepare them. Make sure you use a thermometer to check the doneness of the meat.

I do not have your exact smoker model but I do have a Dyna-Glo dual burner propane smoker as well as a Traeger electric. The temperatures and times I get are consistent with both of these models.

Hope this helps.

Not smoking

Traeger grills just will NOT smoke at temps much above 200 degrees. I have to stand by my grill continually in the summer to keep opening and closing the lid to let the heat out. That also lets the smoke out. I also have turned the grill off and on to try to maintain the temperature at 180 degrees where it smokes best and cooks low and slow. It's less of a problem in the winter months. Then I find myself setting the temperature higher turning it from low to medium and back to maintain the temperature I want.

Treager is overheating

Make sure you are leaving it open long enough when you first turn it on. Everything in the smoke chamber needs to burn up before you begin. There also may be grease buildup in the bottom of your smoker that is catching on fire. If neither of these two possibilities work, contact Traeger support https://www.traegergrills.com/support

Why is smoke coming out of the pellet box. Temp is set on smoke and it is rising up to 380 degrees

Not sure which Model Traeger Grill/Smoker you have, but they all work pretty much the same way.

The following is a link to the model BBQ055. It should help you solve the problem, which simply may be an incorrect adjustment. If that doesn't help call Technical Service @ 1-800-872-3437.

Traeger 075 tripping GFI continually

May be too much moisture on the hot rod.

From Traeger:
Why won't my Grill Ignite?
  1. If your grill is plugged into an electrical outlet with a GFI (ground fault interrupter) plug, chances are the hot rod has absorbed or been exposed to too much moisture and is leaking to ground causing the plug to trip.
  2. Open your cooking chamber lid, remove cooking grill, angled drip pan and U-shaped firepot cover. Is there ash build up in the firepot and/or around the firepot? If so, this needs to be cleaned out. The ash is choking out the fire.
  3. Check the fuse on the back of the control board. To do this, first UNPLUG the grill from the electrical outlet. Then, unscrew the control board and look at the fuse-is it blown or not?
  4. If the fuse is good, check for power by switching the colored plugs first. Unplug the purple plug and the orange plug. Plug the purple plug into the orange plug. Now plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and turn the grill on. Does the induction fan operate? If so, you will need a new hot rod and fuse. If not, you will need a new control board. Unplug the purple from the orange and reconnect the plugs together to their correct color plug.
  5. Always start your grill on the SMOKE setting.
