Our fridge freezer has stopped making noise and cooling down, but the light still works. Is this fixable?

We moved the fridge from its alcove which meant having to tip it a little bit. It then 'switched off' during movement. We unplugged it, left it an hour and tried turning it on again but it still makes no sound. The light still comes on, though.

Hello;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

It sounds like you have a bad defrost timer. Tis is a common part failure. Every 8-10 hours your unit goes into a defrost mode. This is where everything shut down for 20-30 minutes with the exception of your light(s). Then your defrost heater turns on. After this time your unit automatically turns back on.

You did not provide a model number. This is located on a label on the upper side wall in your fresh food section.

The timer is either located in the upper bottom of your control, a small stem and hole on the left front. Take a large flat head screw driver, insert into to hole and slowly turn clockwise to manually jump it.

OR

It is inclusive with your control board. This is located on the right had side of your fresh food section control under the cover. If this is what you have GROUND YOURSELF BEFORE TOUCHING THE NEW CONTROL BOARD. STATIC ELECTRICITY WILL KNOCK OUT THE NEW BOARD.

OR

On the left upper side wall in your fresh food section where your air vent is located, behind the cover you have a orange colored rectangular box.

These components range between $35.00 to $125.00 depending on the component.

If you know how to use tools or have a friend who is handy with tools they are reasonably replaced. Unplug your unit prior to work.

If I was still working and made a service call to your home I would charge you $300.00 - $400.00 USD

Fridge light doesn't work/makes ticking noise

Let the refrigerator cool for awhile without opening the door. 39 minutes should do. Then check to see if the bulb is warm or hot. If it is the door switch is bad and the light is staying on which will make the plastic expand and cracklel or tick. Hope this helps.

Refrigerator not cooling

My fridge and freezer just stopped cooling all of a sudden. I hear the compressor running and every couple of min there is a clicking noise. Is there a reset switch or something that I can do to start it working again? The lights are working but the freezer and fridge are room temp.

Maytag fridge

Without knowing the type of fridge(side by side, freezer on top etc.) all I can offer is this: Somewhere between the freezer and the fridge there's an opening thermostatically controlled to transfer cold air from freezer to the fridge. Most have a fan to move the air. So either the fan (if so equipped) stopped, and need to replace, or opening is stuck closed, or plugged.
If freezer is working fine, this is the only problem I can think of.
Hope this helps

Noise from Deodorizer

Sounds like the circ. fan may be hitting something or has a blade broken off. The refer gets cool air from the freezer section to cool it so the fan aids in the circulation along with vents/dampers, etc. to move air into the refer compartment. If that fan is broken off the motor shaft or something then the motor can run but no air will move. See if you can feel air moving out of the vents, it will be a little bit of "blowing" not a huge wind. A wet hand can help feel for wind. I believe the deodor light may indicate a change is needed (but check the owners manual for actual meaning). If there is no air flow open the freezer section and see if the air flow is noticed then... if a air channel if frozen and can't draw air from the proper area, opening the freezer door will give it outside air and you may feel flow then, that would tell you of a frozen air channel issue.
