These are self locking jaws and its done up too tight.
try undoing chuck by hand, then with a little more force wrap some cloth around chuck and try a pipe wrench around chuck.
make sure you turn the right way or you'll make it worse.
if no luck then take it to someone that works with tools and ask them to do it.

SOURCE: drill bit is stuck inside my makita drill chuck

Try using the low torque setting on the drill when reversing and something to assist you getting a better grip to hold the chuck from spinning when reversing. This may help.

Good Luck

SOURCE: how do you change the drill bit for a Ryobi?

My husband explained this, via phone ..... made it simple....... grab the silver ring area beneath the black top area where the drill bit is located. Hold the silver area firmly, while you twist the black top. You will see the release, then remove drill bit. Laymen's terms, but it worked!!

SOURCE: chuckless drill stuck tight with drill bit in

if you trap the chuck in a bench vice or alike and then use the drill in reverse in short bursts until it loosens a good spray with wd40 will also aid the situation

Drill bit stuck in ryobi impact drill

Put the bit in a vise and try to turn the drill to release the bit. You will need to put a wrench on the area of the drill that's holding the bit and do the turning by the wrench.

I need a manual for Ryobi HT20VSK

The multi tool has no "chuck", it uses collets to fix the bits to the tool. Once the knurled cap is loosened or removed, the collet and bit can be removed. If the cap has been overtightened or left in the tool for an extended time, you can remove it by gripping the shank with pliers or vise grip and turn it to release the collet and bit.

The chuck on my ryobi drill is stuck and I can not loosen it to remove a drill bit made for drilling a hole in the floor. what can I do to solve the problem?

I've adviced you to spray some penetrating oil on the chuck to help it loosen. Allow it to penetrate for a minute. There are some good brands of penetrating oil on the market like the WD-40. Buy it on your local hardware store. It is also available on some autosupply.

pls rate my help.

Thanks for using fixya.

Hello my drill bit holder is stuck open and the fingers that hold the drill bit won't come out of the housing no matter how hard I turn it.

If you go to this URL you will see a screw that is #1 in the exploded view.
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/ryobi-p206-18v-2speed-drilldriver-parts-c-7931_8051_8064.html
If the chuck on your drill is open you might be able to access this screw. It appears that this screw holds the chuck onto the drill and removing it might allow you to remove and then replace the chuck. I am not 100% sure of this, but it looks like a good place to start.

Bit stuck in drill

OK, try to grab the chuck tightener and loosen by pressing lightly on the drill throttle button in whichever direction it takes to undo the stuck in drill bit.

I do this all the time.

Ryobi impact drill compatibility with normal drill bits

Round bits are not compatible with the Ryobi impact drivers. You need the hex shank "quick connect" bits and accessories. There is an adapter available. it is basically a regular style of keyless drill chuck with the quick connect hex shank that should fit right in to your Impact.
