Check the light sockets on either side of the garage door opener and make sure there is no corrosion on the contacts. If you see some corrosion unplug the garage door opener and scrape off the contact. Give that a try and lets see what happens.

What part do I need to replace to get the lights to work on a Craftsman garage door opener?

Sounds like a broken or disconnect wire. At least start their. Unplug operator. Take the cover/shroud off, using a bright flash light check all the wires for breaks or disconnects. Repair or reconnect. Also check the bulb screw housing are connect on the back side.

My light doesnt come on when i break the sensor....and my learn light blinks none stop

Random blinking of the learn light is normal.

To have your lights come on automatically when you walk into an open garage, you must START with the lights ON. If you don't want that feature and you want to turn it off, you must START with the lights OFF.

To turn the feature on, turn the lights on manually with the wall switch, then press and hold the LIGHT button for about 10 seconds until the motor unit light bulbs flash. Now, if the light bulbs are on, manually turn them out and then walk out through the open door. The light bulbs should come on.

To disable this feature, start with the light bulbs OFF and everything else is the same.

I have a 1/2 HP Whisper Drive. The lights are not working. I have replaced the light bulbs, and I can hear the relay clicking, but the lights do not come on. Other than this, the system operates...

Are you using the newer energy-efficient light bulbs? Most of the problems I have encountered are related to the newer bulbs. Sometimes they just do not make a good connection for some reason. If you are using the older-style bulb, try cleaning the contact points (with the opener unplugged of course), they can sometimes accumulate gunk.

Otherwise, it could be a loose wire- or bad receiver board. Just to make sure, though, definitely try a number of new bulbs to be certain that the bulbs are good.

Also, make sure you check the balance of your garage door, to make sure the springs are properly counter-balancing the weight of the garage door. Otherwise, the opener will work overtime and not last as long. You can see a how-to video on our website.

My garage door opener works fine. But the lights are not working. Changed light bulbs,Light bulbs are good, I have checked. tried bending the copper tabs in bulb socket out a bit. Still not working. ...

Make sure you are using standard 60 watt bulbs. Some newer type bulbs are causing a problem. If you have a multimeter and are handy it should be no problem to check for 110 volts at the socket and trace the wiring back to the circuit board. There may be burnt or missing traces on the board itself. The click you hear is the relay that controls the lights so you know that is working but there is always the possibility the points are bad.

Remote works only when Garage Door Opener light is OFF

I discovered that certain light bulbs interfere with the remote sensors. Harware stores have clear vibration reisistant bulbs for garage doors, try them instead. After spending money on a new remote, resetting remotes, and weeks of aggravation...poof.....i found it was the type of bulb I was using. Used a clear bulb and the problem went away. Hope this helps.

Garage Opener Lights will not come on

IF YOU CAN - TEST FOR 110V AT THE CENTER TANG OF THE LIGHT SOCKET.
IF NO POWER YOU PROBABLY HAVE A BAD TIMER CIRCUIT ON THE BOARD - NO EASY FIX NEW BOARD.
IF YOU HAVE POWER YOU MAY HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SOCKET OR ARE USING THE WRONG BULB - A STANDARD LIGHT BULB IS ALL THAT IS REQUIRED. SOME OF THE NEW BULBS HAVE A SIMILAR LOOK BUT DO NOT WORK IN A STANDARD SOCKET.
