How do I fix my vac?

I have thoroughly cleaned and gone over the vac, but it will not pick up any dirt on the floor or carpet. I have used the machine for sometime, so I am familiar with how to operate it.

Is the belt on the beater bar broken? You can check it by removing the screws that are on the bottom and taking off the plate. Look at the long bar that run across the bottom and there will usually be a belt that turns it. If that is broken it causes problems. If not the belt then maybe the filter. If you cleaned everything and you are sure there is no blockage you might just have to go out and purchase a new vacuum. You did not mention what model of vacuum it is.

Not picking up the wand works and there is a lot of suction there but when vacuuming the floor it sounds different and is not picking up

If it's not picking up when you're using the brushroll start with a new belt. Stretch belts lose elasticity because they are stretched to almost twice their original length to install them on the vacuum. They are very tight, and need to be to vacuum carpet thoroughly. While you have the brush roll out clean off any hair, yarn, string, dirt etc. check the suction tube to the power nozzle to make sure you have good suction there. If not try the determine what could be causing a restriction.

My dc07i has power to hose but isn't picking up when hovering carpets or hard floors the roller is going round but there is no suction

I would guess that the line is plugged between the pick-up where it goes to the dirt tank. Lots of time when something big gets sucked in, it still lets the dirt in the tank. However over time dirt collects around the wedged object and gradually over time plugs the passage way. It may take a little time to pick out the blockage. You may have to somewhat take it apart. to get at it. This happens to my shop vac a lot.

I have a Delonghi Multi Vac M31 and have never used the wet part...I would like to clean my carpet using the wet vacuum...can you please tell me how I can do this? Many thanks

A good place to start is the owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can google the make and model of your multi-vac to get another copy.

Most wet-vacs work off the same principle. Pre-vacuum the carpet to make sure there is not normal surface dirt and dust. Next Squirt on hot soapy water, scrub it in - then suck up the dirt and collect the dirty water.

So after vacuuming the area to be wet-vacuumed and you are lucky enough to have a separate reservoir on the wet-vac unit - add pre-mixed carpet cleaner into hot tap water (with carpet cleaner mixed into it by the ratios described on the carpet cleaner soap bottle) to the multi-vac water reservoir (from a quick look, the Delonghi doesn't have one) . With the settings for wet vac (per the owners manual), squeeze the trigger for applying the carpet cleaner. Typically, you will go slower than normal vacuuming. Give it a chance to soak in and dissolve/lift the grim and dirt. Come back slowly to pull the dirty water out of the carpet.

There are multi-wet vacs (like the M31) that don't have a reservoir for the carpet cleaner. In that case, you need to pre-mix a couple of gallons of carpet clean in a separate container or bucket. Next spray or sprinkle carpet cleaner onto/into the carpet. Try to scrub the cleaner into the carpet to really get at the dirt and lift it. Next is to vacuum up the wet stuff.

Some carpet cleaners do not contain an anti-foaming agent. I recommend you either add an anti-foaming agent or buy a carpet clean product that already contains it - otherwise, it tends to be a big mess that takes a lot more time.

I hope these tips help.

Vacuum doesn't work on bare floors!

does it have a bare floor setting that shuts off the beater bar? if the brush is revolving it will scatter dirt instead of picking it up

The vacuum cleaner does not pick up anything from carpet. It does not even pick up pieces of thread laying on carpet. On tile floors it blows dirt away instead of picking it up. I've tried all the settings...

Sounds like there is a clog..

Usually its in the hose - look closely.. Stretch the hose out straight and look in there good..

Or a clog could be in the vac close to where the hose conects to the vac on either end..

This is most case scenario with these types of vacs..

I hope this helps !!
Please rate me good ;o)

Kirby Ultimate won't clean carpet

when you install the hose connector it trips a switch that switches the vac motor into high speed because the vac path is longer using the hose. check the belt after you remove the front. make sure the direction of rotation is in the direction of belt travel stamped in the impeller. try adjusting the head height
