Check that the gap on the plug is around 20-25 thou. or the thickness of the cardboard of a cigarette packet. Are you sure the plug outer is getting earthed? Watch out for fuel / air mixture being blown out of the plug hole in the cylinder.

Ryobi C4618 chainsaw worked great for two years, sat for a year. Fresh premium gas, fresh chain oil, fresh spark plug. Getting no spark. Ignition coil? Oil cut out?

check switch first then coil. Use a multimeter and set the positive lead of the multimeter in position where the spark plug would usually insert
ensure it has made good contact. Place the negative lead onto the metal body of the ignition coil. A working ignition
coil will give a reading of between 2.5 - 5 k ohms. Hope this helps.

I have a ryobi chainsaw that doesn't have a park I replace the coil and spark plug still no spark any Ideas?

The only thing left is the magnets or the fly wheel. But you've gotta be getting close to not worth the repair cost. I go through my featherlites about 1 every 8 years.

WHY IS THIS RYOBI 40CC NO FIRE=CHANGED COIL TWICE=MAGNETIC STRONG= PLACING SCREW IN BOOT TO FEEL SPARK=GROUND PLUG TO ENGINE FIN=WHAT IS WRONG?

did you check your ground wire? it runs from your coil to your on off switch. remove ground wire and try for spark again. if you get spark then you have a faulty ground wire. Also make sure you have a 10 thousand air gap between the coil leg and the flywheel magnet

I have a ryobi rcs4040ca chainsaw that started smoking during use and now won't start. It had plenty of bar oil and the right mix of petrol. I did work it quite hard. I took the spark plug out and cleaned...

Two things come to mind. The ignition coil burnt up or the condensor failed. You did not say where the smoke was comming from. If it was from the exhaust it could have a failed reed valve in the head.

Can not get my Ryobi gas trimmer to start. It is fairly new and have never had a problem. It is getting gas and I've changed the spark plug but still can't get it to start.

There are 2 stroke and 4 stroke Ryobi's. The most common non-spark problem is the coil. (at least for me) Is it getting spark???

Chainsaw wont start. new plug has a little spark.

The engine case needs to be removed to expose the flywheel and ignition module. Check the module pole gap to the flywheel magnets with a thin business card for a gauge. If the gap is excessive, that can give a weak spark. If the gap appears to be correct, then it is probably time for a new ignition module. Make sure the spark plug is gapped at 0.020" before condemning the module. The spark should be blue and snappy. Check it in a dark area. Hope this helps!

New Ryobi petrol c/saw wont start.

If it is brand new, sounds like you should return it for the retailer to have repaired.
