How do I link handset to base after power outage CS6529-3

The extra handset for the TL86109 is the TL86009. Make sure that the base has power and is connected to a working phone (land) line. To deregister all handsets, press and hold the Flash (on the left below the volume buttons) on the base for about 4 seconds. You'll see "Deregister all handsets?". Release the Flash button. Press the Yes soft key (below the LCD screen). You should see the base LCD screen read "Please wait". The registered handsets should read "Out of range or no power at base" until the deregistration is complete. Then you should see the message "Press Hold on base for 4 seconds and then press # on the handset" on all the handsets. The instructions are on pages 11/12 (page 15/16 of the PDF) of the handset manual. The instructions worked after the additional KX-TGA402N handset was fully charged and I kept pressing the menu/ok button of the additional handset to advance from initial settings to the handset registration mode.


How do register an optional accessory handset to my existing main base...

remove the power adapter and remove the battery from the handset. Now replace the battery and power the base unit , place the handset on the base and select intercom or search remote.
The base unit must automatically set the frequency to mesh with the handset and handshake to connect.

Try re-registering handsets to base unit, info on registering should be in manual.

The handsets are reading out of range because they have lost connection with the base. This happens mostly during peak power demands or power outages, but can also happen when the phone is unplugged for any amount of time. This can also cause, at times, the answering machine to stop picking up calls. To remedy this issue, reset the phone system. Please follow the instructions below:
To reset the phone:
1. Disconnect the power adapter, phone line, and remove all batteries from the base and all handsets. Leave it disconnected for 30 seconds to reset the base.
2. Place the batteries in the handsets first and then plug in the power adapter and phone line. Do not place the batteries back in the base yet.
3. Put the handset in the charge cradle.
4. It may take up to 1 minute for the "Out of Range" to clear from the display.
5. Once the "Out of Range" is cleared from the handset place the back up batteries back into the base.

The handset/base keeps a record of who it’s registered to. The base also keeps a record of how many handsets are registered to it.

Using the de-register function on the handset deletes the handset from the base (decrements the count) and deletes the base info from the handset. All this requires that the base and handset can communicate with each other.

To remove the base data from a handset when out of range of the base, press and hold the ‘end’ button and the ‘#’ button simultaneously until the phone beeps. It will now be de-registered from the base.

However, the base will still have this handset in it’s record.

To de-register all handsets from the base, remove power and the base handset. Press and hold the ‘flash/find hs’ button while applying power. Wait for the beep and release the button. The charge light will now flash. Sit any handset in the cradle. When the flashing stops, all handsets are inhibited from connecting.

However, the handset still appears to be connected to the base unit. Pressing talk will give an ‘Unable to connect’ message. To re-register the handsets to the base, you have to de-register the handset first with the two button method.

Of interest, pressing ‘*’ and ‘#’ on the handset while reconnecting the battery is suppose to reset the handset. Doing the same on the base unit puts you in some sort of diagnostic mode. Press speaker to exit.

Please be bit specific about the problem

Registering Handsets to the Base
Whichever handset you choose to charge in the base is automatically
registered to the base. Any additional handsets must also be registered to
the base before you can use them.
Be sure both handsets are fully charged.
One at a time, place each handset in the base. The charge/in use LED on
the base begins to flash, indicating the base is registering the handset.
Wait for at least five seconds, then pick up the handset and press
[talk/flash]. If the display shows TALK, the handset is registered. If not,
place the handset in the base to try again.
Press [end] and continue with the next handset.
Note:
Once both handsets are registered, it doesn’t matter which
handset is placed in the base or the charger.
When you charge the handsets, Caller
ID summary screen and the name of
the handset appears.
