Remote access for machine

This come from a previous model than I have (mine is a ol5870), but seems to work for this one in retrieving messages from another phone.

Default access code is 0000 if you haven't changed it (but you should); when answering machine answer dial in the 4 digit code while the outgoing message is playing.

Once in dial 1,2, or 3 to play messages (mail box number I believe)

You can dial * for a help menu

4 Repeat a message
44 Ignores a message (message won't remote retrieve next call)
6 plays next message (skip to next)
7 Deletes message
8 Lets you record a memo
9 Let's you change the outgoing message (5 stops the recording)
0 Toggles answer on/off

I hope this helps some people at least in part.

Answering machine and voice mail are not working.

For some reason I can't respond on the other thread that you posted.
What lights are on the voice mail card? There should be 3 on the lower edge of the card.

I want to setup my Lucent AS40 answering machine

I had a problem recently when I looked online to find the manual for this model and a similar model, and thankfully I was able to solve the mystery and locate it. Even though the answering machine says it is a Lucent AS40, the correct user manual for it is the manual for the AT&T 1715. Once I figured this out, it was super easy to locate the manual on AT&T’s website... and sure enough, these two products are identical!!!

The user manual for the AS40 can be found at http://telephones.att.com/docMgt/public/art/161/1715_manual.pdf

I figured this out when I ran across an old article discussing a joint venture between Lucent Technologies (AT&T) and Philips Electronics. Apparently the two companies decided to merge together and combine their resources to develop technologically advanced answering machines. After the products were developed, each company marketed them under their name with a different model number, but both were selling the same thing! The reason we couldn’t find the user manual for the Philips model is because Lucent (AT&T) has the manuals!

In case this might help someone, I own two of these answering machines and can vouch that the user manual for the Lucent AS40 is the same as the AT&T 1715 and the Philips AD2735 is the same as the AT&T 1725. Here are the models that were produced during the joint venture:

AT&T/ Lucent 1715 = Lucent/ AT&T AS40
AT&T/ Lucent 1725 = Philips AD2735
AT&T/ Lucent 1717 = ?
AT&T/ Lucent 1815 = ?
AT&T/ Lucent 1825 = ?
AT&T/ Lucent 7625 = ?
AT&T/ Lucent 7630 = ?

Remote access, panasonic cordless phone and answering machine

I phoned in from another phone and retrieved my messages. The problem was not with the answering machine but with the phone and calling card I had been using. Don't use a hotel switch board nor calling card, too many intermediate parties for the 2 digit code to work with.

Power outage last night. Deleted all saved voicemail messages. when turned on - machine says "no massages" How do I retrieve lost messages?

I'm sorry there isn't. Answering machines like this have very little ROM memory. After a powersurge and outage like last night, it wiped the whole memory chip. You can try there support page. It's actually pretty good. http://telephones.att.com/telephones_ui/support/index.cfm
