Go to Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Devices and Printers. Select "Mouse". Check to see what the settings are there and if you can reenable your device. It will probably be under "Hardware".

If that doesn't work, go to lenovo.com and download and reinstall the device drive for your touchpad device.

SOURCE: i need help disbling this touch pad

You need to look into the user information manual for that notebook to see if there is a disable function. If nothing else works, Place tape over the touchpad and that should help. Additionally, you can look at your mouse sensitivity settings in Windows under control panel and reduce the sensitivity of the mouse.

SOURCE: I want to disable my touch pad.

There may be an Fn-Key combination that allows you to toggle between ON and OFF. (maybe Fn-F9). The relevant key should have a picture of a touch pad.

SOURCE: I can't disable touch pad

There should be a touch pad icon in lower right where your tasbar is, right click for options to disable, if no luck! go into device manager, it will give a list of drivers, locate the touch pad, click on plus to the left and right click, there should be a choice to disable, click over that to disable.

Desaparecio el cursor de la pantalla. Conecto un mouse y tampoco aparece el cursor.

The cursor on the touch-pad is probably disabled...try to go into the control panel ..and under he touch pad see if you can activate the cursor again ..If there is no possibility ...just download the touch pad driver again from the support site ..and run it into computer to install ...Restart when you finish and it should work again ..cause when newly installed the program is defaulted and all settings are new.

When i am typing my cursor some times jumps to another line and some parts of my typing was deleted and i have to back again. it is nervous problem for me.

That happens when your hands or thumb are too close to the cursor pad. Due to your cursors pad high sensitivity will cause your pointer to move or delete entire paragraphs. To fix this problem by a mini-mouse connect it to your laptop and disable your cursor pad usually there is a button near by to disable it on most Dell and HP laptops.

I have a medion akoya E1222, and when you type the cursor will move to a different part of the text.. muddling up the words...Very annoying

That is because your thumb is touching the cursor pad. It happens to everyone who uses laptops. Some laptop designers put the cursor pad off-centre because of this. With the akoya e1222 you can press [fn]+[f9] and that will disable the cursor pad. That way if you touch the pad by accident you don't mess up your words. When you need to use the mouse again press [fn]+[f9] again to re-enable the cursor pad.

With any laptop it pays to play with those function buttons. There are always some useful ones there.

Comaq presario cq 71 cursor is frozen. PC shop man siad it was poor battery. Booted up from mains and cursor worked fine until recently. Mistakenly left battery in and powered down to hibernate. Now cursor...

yeah ..you have to disable the power saving mode..This is the only thing related with the battery usage that may disable the cursor..o r..just reinstall the touch pad..
to do that download its driver and run it into computer ..
here is the link
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3795238&
just select eh operation system and download the touch pad driver..
or go to control panel ..open the touch pad icon ..and in there select default settings ..or enable the cursor again ..if it is disabled..
if this is not working ..try reinstall it like I said ..It always starts a clean installation from the factory settings ..
Avoid hibernate it ..cause will always preserve the last settings ..just close it proper each time ..this way it will boot and recognize devices each time from the start ..

Jumping letters on acer laptop when I type

You need to disable the touch pad while typing. During typing your palm can accidentally touch the touch pad causing the cursor to 'jump' randomly resulting in the problem.

You have not mentioned the model but on Acer laptops there's a key in the upper row with a 'pad and finger' figure on it. If the figure is in blue, press Fn together with the figure key to disable the touch pad and then again to enable it.

I have an IBM ThinkPad T42 and until a few minutes ago my touch pad was working with no problems. I installed a wireless mouse and that works fine. But I cannot control the cursor with the touch pad or red...

Try going to Start>Control Panel>Printer and other Hardware and look for mouse pad or something like that. I think the problem is that you can only use either the mouse pad or the mouse, can't use them both at the same time.
