If you smelled a plastic burning smell you've burned some wiring somewhere. You would need to pull out the whole thing and start by looking at the back. I once had a dead mouse that had shorted across the relatively high voltage terminals common on most stoves. You should unplug the stove before doing anything like removing panels. Be very careful. Once you've found the problem you might need to call an electrician to fix it, depending on how brave you feel and where the problem is.

The Kenmore 24-Inch Self-Cleaning Gas Oven 30472
features a low-maintenance self-cleaning feature and is offered at a
fair price.
Many retailers offer only a limited
selection of gas ovens for 24-inch cutouts, but Sears has a fairly good
number of models to choose from. And the 30472 stands out because of
the its price and the self-cleaning feature. Since most 24-inch models
are so similar, you'll want to make finding the best price your
priority.
The 30472 (Sears item 02230472000)
built-in gas oven offers a feature set that is typical of ovens in this
category. You'll find a modern frameless door design and a digital
display. Most all products offered today have a built-in clock and
digital timer, like this one. The interior light goes on automatically
when the door is opened. As an alternative, you can switch on the light
manually without opening the door. This allows you to take a peak at a
cake or other food without any heat escaping.
As is
typical, this model also offers a pre-heat signal. Unlike the ovens of
yesteryear, when the selected temperature is reached, this model will
alert you.
Offered here in white, this model also comes in black (30479), bisque (30474), or stainless steel with black (30473).
At an attractive price, the 30472 warrants some serious consideration because of the self-cleaning feature.

SOURCE: SMEG A21X-5 Freestanding Cooker: Main oven has smoke/fumes everytime its used!
usual cause of fumes is if the grill is in the oven, when for example a roast is done, fat spits onto the grill element and the circular element and smokes. if you leave it on, the smoke will clear. some ovens have a fat guard which clips over the grill in the centre of the back panel to prevent this.
to clean glass, just use scouring pads - glass is virtually impossible to scratch

You can try unplugging the over for a while and seeing if that helps. But if that doesn't help you will have to let the oven complete the cleaning cycle in order to regain use.
SOURCE: I used the oven at 425C for about 30 minutes,
your mostlikley correct on the buring wires. The only thing that can be done at this point is to unplug the machine and start tearing in to it to find the bad wires.
