My compaq laptop doesn't turn on

I am having trouble with my laptop, because it was working fine but then the screen went all crazy all that you could see was lines, so what I did was turn it off by holding the button for a few seconds so it turned off, right. Now when I turn it back on by pressing the on button the screen doesn't turn on just the battery light(blue),the on light(blue) and fan is working but the hard drive light doesn't turn on at all just for a second when I turn the laptop on but then that's it. It seems like the hard drive its not running and I already removed the battery and put it back on and also just tried to turn it on just with the AC power cord.

Thank you Hassan for your suggestions I really appreciate it. I opened the laptop but I had no results it doesn't turn on. So maybe its the motherboard?

Also I removed the battery and everything but I couldn't remove all the bottom cover because there's a screw that I don't know how to take out? I could see the screw from the inside but outside is right where the button to snap out the battery is.

Hello,

At the bottom of the laptop, find and open the placing of RAM. Unplug each RAM from its bank, clean each RAM and also its bank, Plug them again in different bank. Lock your placing, now check.

Just remember to take your time and don't get nervous working on the computer. Please report back to the thread the results of your work.

Do you see any lights on the laptop that are on? If you see any lights and only a black screen, then more than likely your video chip on the motherboard has gone out. Some local shops might be able to replace the motherboard it might be cheaper than buying a new laptop. Good luck

I have a compaq armada 7750mt. I can hear the hard drive running and the cd rom runs when a put a cd in it but the screen is black and none of the lights are lit. Would this happen if one of my ram modules...

Yes, bad RAM can cause these symptoms.

Remove any CD-disk from the CD-drive.
Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Remove one stick of RAM, leaving one installed.
Connect the AC power, and see if the computer will start.
If necessary, repeat the above with the "other" stick of RAM.

Otherwise, take the computer to a qualified technician, for complete trouble-shooting.

My NC-10 screen just went crazy. I can tap on the

You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashes on and off or displays reddish pink hue. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickers on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replace the CCFL lamp.
To determine if the video card or the LCD is faulty, connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight. It could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out, this is the most likely case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

First instinct would tell me that your LCD has gone bad. A refurbished replacement LCD should run around $300-$325 give or take.

Guages when crazy. Now won't even try to start.

You likely have it repaired by now but it sounds like a classic case of oxidized battery or cable connection (sometimes mis-diagnosed as bad battery but cured with new (clean) battery)

Compaq R3000 laptop screen went black

Give this a try -

1. Remove all USB devices such as printers, mp3 players etc etc.
2. Remove the power-cable and the battery
3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds
4. Put the power-cable back in but not the battery and none the USB devices.
5. Turn the computer on

Let me know if it doesnt work.
