Fit the bobbin into the bobbin case and feed the thread to the outside through the opening. it does not matter which way round the bobbin is in the case, then insert the case into the machine make one turn with the macine so that the threaded needle drops through the plate. when it comes back up it should pull up the bobbin thread with it. then take the two threads and pull them back and insert your material to be sewn.

I hope this was useful.

SOURCE: Bobbin thread is pulling to the top, using

Setting bobbin case tension:
Put wound bobbin in bobbin case. Thread it in case. Hold the thread and carefully let go of the case only holding bobbin thread. The case should NOT move. Quickly let your hand drop 2-3 inches to let the bobbin case free fall for 2-3 inches, the bobbin case should move slightly then stop. It moves because it let’s a little thread off the bobbin. It should then stop .5"- 2" of thread should release. If so, your bobbin case tension is right. If it’s right then begin to look at your top thread tension. Always Always start with a properly adjusted bobbin case, then adjust your top tension accordingly.

SOURCE: brother xr-65 bobbin problem

I had the same problem and I found out that it was because I was not using Brother bobbins...I was buying the replacements that looked the same from Joanns and I guess the ones they require are a little bit taller...once I bought the right replacements...everything has been fine. Hope that helps. The model number for the correct bobbins is SA156...get froma local dealer or online retailer.

SOURCE: I can not thread a bobbin to save my life. Help.

first, google your sewing machines name and model number and "manual" or "users guide" and you can find the link to the PDF download. Here is what I found:

1 Raise the needle to its highest position by turning the balance whell toward you (counterclockwise) and raise the presserfoot lever. Slide the button and open cover.
2 insert the bobbin so the thread comes out in a clockwise direction. Use bobbins intended for this machine. !CAUTION! Be sure the bobbin is set so the thread unrols in the correct direction. If the thread unrolls in the wrong direction, it may cause the thread tension to be incorrect or the needle to break.
3 Hold the thread end, push the bobbin down with your finger, and pass the thread securely through the thread cutting groove.
4 Replce the bobbin cover. Place the left tab in place then press lightly on the right side until the cover clicks into place. *insert the cover so that the end of the thread comes out from the back of the cover.

good luck and G.Bless!

SOURCE: My brother is an xr-46, the upper thread is

This problem occurs when the timing is off. When the needle inserts into the machine and picks up the bobbin thread is too early or to late, the thread will get hung up on the "finger" of the bobbin. First, check the bobbin to see if you may have placed it in backwards. If the bobbin was inserted correctly, and this just started happening, then the machine will have to be serviced.

Top thread is hanging up somewhere under feed dogs. With and without bobbin in place. Any suggestions.

1. Make sure to adjust the bobbin tension. Also, make sure the bobbin is correct for the machine. If it is too tall it will surely have problems. (see attachment for bobbin tension adjustment)
2 Always thread your machine with the pressure foot up. As you thread give gentle tugs to check for hang ups. This has to be corrected.
3. Adjust the top tension to four to begin with. Final tension adjustment can be made when you give a trial sew.
*Always oil race w/one drop of oil before the bobbin case is placed back. This is done only about every 10000 stitches.

Bobbin tangles on Brother xr 65

This was happening to me too, I reversed the bobbin feeds and it has not tangled since then. I was orignally feeding the bobbin from the left side and now i feed the thread from the right. It works great this way.

The bobbin string gets tangled in a big mess and jams the machine

adjust the thread tightness. thread tension might be loose enough. be sure also the the bobbin inside the machine is place correctly! reversed placement would result in bigger mess.
