If you are using knit fabric and a regular needle, then your machine will skip stitches. Can you give me more details on what you are sewing or trying to sew>

Have you changed the type of needle--top stitch, embroidery, microtex? Sometimes that will help. Also, my skipped stitches occur in FMQ because the fabric is moving too fast for the machine speed or I have a jerky movement. It helps me to try slowing down the fabric movement or speed up the machine and practice making smooth, consistent movement. I've never done FMQ with a needle larger than an 80/12, so you might try a smaller needle to reduce the fabric grabbing the thread.
Install a brand new needle and confirm it is inserted with the flat side facing the proper direction.. A bent, damaged needle will sometimes cause skipped stitches or even needle strikes inside the machine. A new needle is the least expensive cure for a lot of sewing machine problems. The needle should be changed about every 8 hours of sewing or at least when starting a new project.
Remove the top thread. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct.
Sometimes, skipped stitches will occur if the needle, thread, and fabric are incompatible. Be sure to use the correct needle for your project. Use a good quality thread--AVOID old or bargain bin thread!
If the machine continues to skip stitches, then it may be out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.
Skipped stitches sometimes occur if the machine is incorrectly threaded. Remove the thread and re-thread from the beginning (first RAISE the presser foot so the thread will seat in the tension disk). Confirm that the thread follows the correct pathway (consult manual). Try installing a brand-new needle. Make sure the needle, thread, and fabric are compatible.
It is very possible that the timing is off, which often occurs with broken needles. A common symptom is that the needle will not pick up the bobbin thread. Missed stitches aren't necessarily timing related--be sure to install brand needles often and use the correct needle for the fabric & thread you are using. Using the wrong needle will often cause skipped stitches.
Hi. Skipped stitches are usually caused by a mismatch in your thread and needle. Wrong thread type, wrong needle size, or even old thread can cause skipped stitches. If all else fails, change the needle. If that doesn't work, clean the machine. Sometimes just getting rid of all the lint and giving her a good oiling does a world of good.
