Performing a hard reset can solve this problem. I have had this with my old laptop, follow the below steps
1.Turn off the computer.
2.Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards.
3.Disconnect the AC power adapter and remove the battery.
4. Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.
5.Reconnect the AC power adapter, but do not connect the battery.
6. Turn on the computer.

After I log-on to my acer laptop the screen goes blank

try starting the laptop in safe mode. that will use the default VGA driver vs the driver that gets loaded after the log on screen. If VGA mode works then you have the wrong video driver installed.

After I log-on my computer the screen goes black?

I've had this problem before and it was a fault in the multicore cable from the screen to the motherboard caused by constantly closing the laptop. It drops out when a demand is put on the cable. simple fix for an engineer.

looks as though the user profile might be corrupt. Try booting into safe mode or another user log in. If you can access safe mode create another account. Reboot computer normally and log into the new account. If new account works then you have a corrupt user account that would need to be fixed or just transfer all data to new account and remove old account.

Rough. Alright, might have your back on this one. So, did you type in your log-in name and leave the password field blank and click "OK"? If that didn't work, there is another option. Instead of entering "Repair My Computer" choose "Safe Mode". Often times, there is a hidden administrator account on some systems that doesn't have a password. If you only see your profile listed when you get to the log in screen, then shut it down and restart. If you do see the administrator account log in and delete the user account. If you only saw your profile listed, log in to Windows in normal mode and check the Start>All Programs list for an Acer Recover Utility that might allow you to begin the process from within windows.

My daughter forgot her password on emachine E725 and can not boot. How can we reboot the computer? Thank you.

Assuming that you mean the Windows log in password, try using blank (none) as password (otherwise at the log on screen hit "enter"). If this doesn't work log on at the administrator's account. To do this if you can see the administrator's icon click on it and use blank (none) for password again. If you can't see the administrator's icon, hit ctrl+atl+del TWICE and type as user "administrator", blank (none) for password and hit enter. After you log on as administrator change your user's account as you wish and you are ready to go.

My son changed his password on his netbook. now he doesn't remember it. he cannot log in at all. he can do absolutely nothing with it. how can we fix this?

at Windows XP's Welcome Screen, simply press Ctrl-Alt-Del keys sequence together twice, and you will be shown a Log On to Windows menu where you can specify the User Name and Password. In the User Name text box, key in "Administrator" (without quotes) and leave the Password field blank. Then press Enter or click on OK. If there it is not a password protected Administrator account, or blank password is set, then you will be able to access the Windows with full administrative privileges as Administrator.

Then simply click start > control panel > User accounts then select your sons account and click edit then click remove password. once done simply log off and then log in to your sons account and no password will be asked for. If your son is the root administrator then you will need to get software to reset the password for you

Windows cannot recognize my password.

In case you have problem with your pass log in as administrator (the default pass is blank) and change your account's pass to a proper one. I can't understand what you mean by AR. Could you send me a print screen of your log in screen with the AR? (hit prt sc in log in screen > log in in any account > open Word or any image editor > paste the print screen from the clipboard) My e-mail is [email protected].
