You may be reading the code wrong, Code 33 shows up as blink 3 pause blink 3. This means it has a lower level code fault. To access the real code. Press the stop button 3 times fast within 5 seconds and re-post what the code is please. It may blink pause then blink again, that is the lower fault code that will help diagnose the problem.

Code 3 - Service Check When you see this code, it indicates that there is a problem somewhere on your Onan generator. You will get 3 flashes then a pause, then 3 flashes, then a pause and on it goes till you press the button to get the secondary code.

Can not get fault code to reset on an onan QD12000 generator

Try disconnecting the battery for about ten minutes and reattaching positive cable and see if that resets it.

How to clear the code fault on my Onan 4000 generator. What causes a fault & why???

what model is it KY KV need that and Spec. If it blinks 3 times it indicates a lower service fault. While blinking hit the stop button 3 times fast, then read the code. It will blink, pause then blink again and repeat. What is that code and I can help you. IE 4 blinks pause and 3 indicates code 43

Check the spark plug and the ignition coil for good sparking.

Get the spark plug out, or with another spark plug connected to high voltage cable, outside the motor, the outer part of the plug connected to motor ground and see if spark is present at cranking.

check the oil pressure switch, if it does not register it will also give a code and will not start.
