I went to play store and unchecked add icon to Home Screen for new apps. But the green men still jump on my home screen. It's several of them, looks like advertisements. 
Every shortcut to a program has an Icon assigned to it. if you notice the android icons have different names. this is normal. From what I can see they look like shortcuts to websites.

If it's a new phone, take it to the place that you purchased from and have them check it out. Make sure you take your box, charger, and paperwork and receipts with you. Good Luck.

you cant delete the icons,u must just slide it back into the margin on the lefthand side of the screen,theres a small arrow type of thing on the screen,u must click on that arrow to let the margin come out,then u can slide the icons in there,where they belong.

Michele this is a software problem try to do full reset the device by *2767*3855# (default code is 0000 or 000000 or 00000000 or 1234), but before this make a backup, because it will delete all data.best of luck.
