Because you have a scale that weighs in whole grams not parts of a gram. You need a more accurate scale like these which weigh to 1/00th of a gram (0.01 grams).
LLL probably indicates "Off-Level".Take batteries out / unplug power,re-apply power and make sure scale is Level....LLL also might indicate power is Low....make and model # ???
I had this problem with my Silvercrest kitchen scales model z30170. Being wall mounted the weighing platform was on a fold-down flap . It turned out to be a broken wire in the hinge joint.
