X5470 Lexmark printer

I have refilled the Lexmark 32 black ink cartridge that came with the printer, and it does not recognize the refilled cartridge. I get a message that tells me the cartridge is out of ink and that to use non Lexmark cartridges will void the warranty. I paid 79 bucks for the printer and a black and color Lexmark cartridge at Office Depot is $59. I need some help on how to reset this printer to recognize the refilled cartridge. Thanks, Mark

during printing got message NeverErr:0x960F. What does it mean, can't turn off printer either.

This seems to be a common problem, according to a fair amount of research I've done on it........even with new cartridges! People have tried unplugging their printer, have been careful not to touch the contacts, have done a cartridge dance, and the printer still either a) does not recognize the cartridge or b) shows a low ink level.

A person closer to the industry than I suspects that the contact strip is not made very "robust" and wears out easily......another explanation is that the printer actually destroys a contact gradually while the ink is being used so that it's literally wiped out, so that a refill will still register as an empty cartridge, because the "gas gauge" shows empty. The problem is the worst with the 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, but I've also run into it with the 82's.

Hope someone comes up with a solution, otherwise Lexmark wins!

refilled cartridge shows up empty in the printer :-??

  • Anonymous Dec 16, 2007

Does anyone know how to fix this? I refilled, and it doesn't even print anything out. It says NeverErr Ox960F and isn't turning off when I press power. I'm afraid to unplug this sucker in case I mess it up completely. does it not work with refilled cartridges or am I doing something wrong?

it;s leaking out when I print.

I rmoved the empty 33 color ink for lexmark that I purchased at a printers store and inserted the new cartrige (same 33 color for lexmark x5470)

when I lowered the printer's cover the printer wanted to start an alignment test. I loaded plain paper and pressed v.

it tells me a problem that I didn't take away the tape. (but I did)

it tells me that I'm out of color ink.

Just unplug the printer from the back and plug it back in. Problem solved. I did this on my mother's printer and it worked like a charm for this same error msg and issue.

I have saved THOUSANDS by refilling Xerox fax , cannon and HP and yes Lexmark cartridges over the last 8yrs or so. This was the subject of some litigation last year as there is a company that sells a Lexmark after market REFILLABLE cartrige for these latest generation printers. Lexmark took them to court last year claiming copyright infringment on the chips in the cartridge and last report in the media was the judge had issued a injuction pending the outcome of the case to ALLOW the aftermarket cartridges to continue to be sold. This problem is built into this unit, that is it is designed so you cannot refill the cartriges; there may be a hack solution but I have't found it yet and I just hit the "check mark" buttion a couple of times to get my FAXES to print from memory as I dont have this hooked up to a computer, just using it as a fax/scanner/copier stand alone at the moment. Dang lexmarK!!!

Printer does not recognize carts

I have refilled my cartridges many, many times. A messy job, but well worth the savings. Never over fill, handle carefully.
The printer will give an error message, but just press cancel, do not order a new cartridge, Your refilled cartridge will work on the lexmark x5470. Good luck.

Refilling the Lexmark x5470 color ink cartridge: Can't

There should be a dialogue box that pops up on your computer when the cartridge is low telling you to order new ones. Usually there is a box you can check to tell it to ignore that the cartridge is low. If you don't get the dialogue box, somewhere in your printing preferences you should be able to tell it to "ignore ink levels." There does not exist a cartridge that "does not contain this circuitry." There are no compatibles of these cartridges and all refills are of original manufacturer cartridges.

Let the ink settle in the cartridge for awhile. Make sure no ink is on the outside of the cartridge which adversely effects the signal to the printer.

I just refilled black ink of my new printer Lexmark x5495. Does not recognise the black cartilage and keeps on asking for alignment. When it prints alignment page it does not use the refilled black ink....

“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.

HOW TO REFILL LEXMARK X5495 PRINTER

When you try refilling your ink cartridges, you are taking chances that something may go wrong. I would search the web and purchase re-manufactured ink cartridges, which would be less expensive than the new ones from Lexmark.

X5470 Lexmark printer

Lexmark and Dell use a sensor in the cartridge to sense a low ink level. Once the sensor has been activated, you cannot reset it. The printer should work fine except for the fact that you'll have to override the "low ink" message on your computer.

Manufacurers don't make money on printer hardware. All the money is made from ink replacement, so they make it as difficult as possible to use anything other than the stuff you buy from them. Some (HP) put in chips for an "expiration" of the ink/toner. Go beyond the expiration date, the thing won't work.
