I went to print a card and it showed an Hcb bulb error 14002. This is the first time I used this machine and I don't know what the error means or even where to look in the machine to fix it.
The HCB Bulb is in the heater unit. There are two halogen bulbs top and bottom inside the upper unit, one of those probably has failed

SOURCE: How to configure the Zebra S500 using a USB to Parallel adapter?
The Zebra Stripe S500 has a RS-232 SERIAL interface using a DB-25 connector . You'll need a USB to SERIAL converter, not parallel. Be sure that the baud rate and data/stop bits are set the same on the printer and interface converter. Generally speaking, use the fastest setting possible (19200 baud) unless you encounter problems.

Chris,
It sounds like you have a blown pixel on your print head and will need to have it replaced. We are a full-service Zebra Reseller with factory-trained staff (former Zebra techs) and can easily take care of that for you.
If you are still looking for repair, please contact us at your convenience.

Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools (in Clasic view), and double click on Services. Scroll down and right-click on "Print Spooler". Start (or Restart) it and your printers will reappear in the "Printers and Faxes" window, and the spooler will try to send jobs to the printers again.
If you check the Properties of the Print Spooler, on the Recovery tab, you can set it to "Restart the Service". I set mine to Restart on the First Failure and Second Failure, and Take No Action on the Third Failure, in case something really needs attention.

Okay, the driver for the printer (hal.dll) needs to be reinstalled.
Do the following:
Press the windows key and R
Type in command
In the command prompt that comes up:
Type in cd C:\Windows\System32
Type in taskkill /f /im "hal.dll"
Type in del hal.dll
Then restart your computer
What taskkill does is kill the printer application that is using the driver so you can delete it. After your system restarts, Windows will automatically reinstall the printer driver, and the problem will be fixed!
