yeah i had the same problem, if you hold down the power button on the front of the tv for, i dont know, like 30 seconds or something, then my tv would turn off. try it.

You can test the remote by holding it very close to an AM radio receiver and pushing the buttons on the remote. You may have to tune the radio accross the AM bamd to pick up the remote's signal. You should hear a popping sound each time a button is pressed. You need to hold the remote near the tuner of the AM radio. If you can't pick up a signal then you need to replace the remote. If you do pick up a signal then possibly the remote receiver in your TV is bad or the remote is not putting out the proper IR signal. Stargazer
