First make sure the Power Saving settings are correct? Click on the Menu button and scroll to the Tool icon. Scroll to the bottom and look for Power Saving, make sure (Display Off) is set to at least one minute or 3 minutes, it might be set for a few seconds and that is why the display turns off ? It also could be that your setting for the (Auto Power Down) is set to ON, turn it to OFF. Both of these settings are located in the same menu called Power Saving.

Canon Powershot A560. Just recently everytime I turn on my camera I have to re-set the time and date. (which will only last while camera is on - otherwise defaults to all 0's). This becomes an issue...

Open your battery door. See this picture. Notice the little door saying CR1220? Pry it open with your fingernail. The enclosed CR1220 battery is the camera's "watch" battery for time and date. Sounds like it may be "time" for a replacement. Take the battery to your local drugstore to purchase a replacement. Don't know why, but drugstores seem to have this battery at a more reasonable price (~$3) than W-Mart or other retail store (~$7).

Canon Power Shot A560-My camera will allow me to see images when recording video, but I cannot see images when I want to take a picture. The screen is completely black. Not sure what happened. It has...

Sounds like you just accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This turns the screen on and off in photo mode to save batteries (you'd then use the optical viewfinder in its place). Just press the button one more time with the camera turned on.

My powershot a560 will not show the picture i want to take ,its just a black screen but when i take the picture it then will show me it help please

Don't fret, there's nothing wrong. You just accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns your screen on and off to save batteries. Press it once more to turn it back on.

Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may have reached their shelf life, and though brand new may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Retailers (try Walmart) sell these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

The memory card that comes with the camera is only to verify that the camera works. And yes it's a horrible card with only about twenty pictures that can be stored by it. You'll want to buy a larger card. They're very inexpensive these days:

It won't turn on

There could be something going on the battery contacts. Your camera may still be under warranty. I would check it out with Canon

Stay in a bright place or room and then try to press the Disp button once twice or even thrice. By doing so u shd be able to notice the picture or the LCD's backlight turning on.
