Kirby g10d, I shampooded the carpet then put it back together and it wont start 4/12 yrs old used approximately 50 times. Any ideas?

It's got a lifetime warranty you should call the company or person that you purchased it from and and tell them you want someone to come and have a look or find out where the nearest service agent is.

The only thing I can think of is the brush head is not on properly.If the head is not aligned right,then the saftey switch wont be activated.Otherwise,I'd say the saftey switch or power switch.Did you make sure not to run over the cord?

Few things to watch for.
1. Do not leave the foam on the rug for too long (2-5 minutes max) - long enough for rug to absorb it. This is why I would recommend doing carpet in sections.
2. If the carpet is really dirty or/and old - sometimes dirt breaks down the foam so fast that you will not get much (if anything) from the carpet. New carpets are treated with dirt repellents so fiber does not absorb the water and dirt does not stick to carpet easily. On old carpets this treatment is worn off so fibers absorb moisture very easily and there is not much you can do. You may wash it to get it as clean as you can, let it dry, vacuum and then use KirbyGuard to restore protection, but you decide if it is worth the effort considering that some stains will never come out.

I love my Kirby and shampooer, but I am wondering if there are any ways to clean stains in small/tight spaces (in corners, between furniture, etc)... my old carpet shampooer had a "hand tool" attachment with spinning brushes, but I don't see anything similar for Kirby... I imagine I could put a tiny bit of solution down and use the zip brush, but I'm wondering if anyone has a better idea...?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
I believe that Kirby does make a spinning brush and If I remember it is a round brush that spins and probably will not get into square corners – suggest using a scrub brush with the Kirby Shampoo for corners and steps for areas that you cannot get into – use an old spray bottle to wet down the area that you are cleaning and use the scrub brush and if you do find the Kirby spinning brush that will do the large areas. they are pretty easy to use you cant really put it together the "wrong way" they wont fit :-)

There are different attachments for different models. If there is no foam in the tray, check that you have connected all the attachments correctly. If you are not sure which way they go, remember, there is only one right way to do it, so try untill you get it right.
