I'm using Exchange 2010 on a Windows 2010 server. This is the fourth time my database has gone corrupt since December. After the db is replaced or repaired everything is fine for a month or two and then the db is corrupt again. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I don't need any help with recovery(I could do it in my sleep at this point), just to figure out what is causing the corruption. I've checked my AV software and all the correct files and folders are excluded from scans. No hardware errors. Information Store (248) First Storage Group: A bad page link (error -338) has been detected in a B-Tree (ObjectId: 24793, PgnoRoot: 943649) of database D:\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA\priv1.edb (943649 => 1205152, 1272360). The only strange thing I've noticed is that two times I've had users who had an e-mail which can't be deleted. The only way I've been able to delete the e-mail is to transfer to a pst and then delete the mailbox and re-add it. Any help would be appreciated.
If you keep getting corruption, the most likely cause is bad hardware.
Hardware problems are probably responsible for 99% of all corruption issues.
Have you checked all of your hardware to make sure that it isn't the
culprit? As Teo suggested, have you ensured that you have the latest
firmware and drivers for all components? Does your server have a RAID
controller? If so, is it battery backed? If not, do you have write-caching
enabled? Suspect hardware here could be any one of hard drives, controller,
backplane, memory, etc. If it is a brand name server, make sure that you
get the latest diagnostics and run all tests on it.
If that doesn't get you anywhere, your best bet would be to open a case with
PSS - they should be able to help you identify what the cause of the
corruption is. The following KB article may also help you to find the
cause.Try this EDB Open File Tool http://www.edb.openfiletool.com/
