Function button keeps failing

Whenever the power to the oven is switched off (ie due to a powercut) the display shows the word STOP and the oven/grill etc will not work unless the clock is re-set. However the function button that you press to change to set the clock does not work. We have had hotpoint out to replace it 3 times and each time it stops working after a few weeks. This is fine until there is a powercut and then we cannot re-start the oven. Is there a way to bypass the clock re-set and get the oven working again without paying hotpoint another £80???

Cant get oven to Work after powercut, display says "stop". Can any one help?

You need to reset it by the looks of it. Try pushing and holding in any programme buttons / knobs for 5 sec or so to re set the thing. Even turning off the main power switch at the wall for sev min if it has one. another posibility is that the powercut has produced a surge or spike that has damaged the onboard "computer" -hopefully not.

It looks like the clock has failed. Try leaving the power off for at least 10 mins, turn it back on at the main switch and then try it. If it still doesn't work Espares can get you a new one. Incidentally, if there is power to the oven, the grill will work even if the clock is not set.

Hi

You don't say what type of GE oven this is so I will advise the following;

On a GE range oven F7 indicates either a function pad button is stuck or the clock on the oven is malfunctioning

On the 99 Range oven F7 indicates a shorted Clear/Off Key due to membrane switch or a shorted control or connector

On the GE XL44 Self Clean Oven F7 is Stuck keypad or control relay malfunction

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Thank you.

I have a stoves 720EF Heritage - electric - the top grill is not working - does it have a reset button?

No, there is no reset button. However, the grill will only work when the front is down as there is a microswitch which operates to provide connectivity when it is in this position. This is to stop the grill overheating. The switch could have gone faulty.
Does the top oven work ok?
When you operate the grill there are two options, part or full. Are they both failing? Does the cooling fan switch on when either grill is operated?
