NHT sa-2 amplifier won't go into standby mode after 10 Minutes of no signal

I'm using this amp as a sub woofer amp for a passive sub. RCA's run to it from my pre-outs on my receiver. After listening to music and turning off my receiver, the SA-2 amplifier should turn off after 10 minutes of receiving no signal from the receiver. It doesn't. The switch is set properly to activate the standby mode. Other than this problem, the amp works fine.

Does the NHT sa-2 have it's own pre-amp? Because I'm wondering if the power off only works when it's own pre-amp is used? So when your receiver is connected it's shut off.

You could try something connected to it's own pre-amp (if it has one) and see if it goes off when there's no signal from that.

The schematic (rev A, sheet 1, lower right) for the NHT SA2 amplifier shows that the standby mode is activated by either the line level inputs or the speaker level inputs. The line is simply a splice off the 0.67V 50Hz drive prior to any user-adjustable low pass settings on sheet 2 (the high pass settings for "line out" happen after this line is picked off.)
The other option for the standby mode not working is that the switch on the back panel is broken into the defeat mode (the questioner already wrote the switch is in the right position) or the detection circuit (rev A, sheet 5, lower left) has a faulty component. Either of these problems would require circuit diagnostics.

Have jvc rx-2020v receiver with mono rca out for sub and trying to hook it up with polk audio rm 1000 w sub woofer with +/- terminals for both left ane right channels plus blue terminal(?). How to?

Your Polk Audio subwoofer is a passive sub and your JVC mono output is for connection to a powered sub. If the JVC does not have an amplified output for a passive sub, you'll either need to get an amplified sub, a different receiver, or buy a dedicated mono subwoofer amplifier.

Klh powered sub woofer

Low level inputs are designed to take signals directly from an amplifier's "sub out" connections. That way the KLH amplifier will use those signals to produce sound and the volume can be balanced between the main amplifier and the sub amplifier using the sub's volume controls. Depending on your amplifier and sub, that is the best way to connect them. However, be careful running the RCA cables since the low levels are more subject to interference. Keep the runs as short as possible and use high quality shielded cables for the interconnects.

What type of sub-woofer can i add to my denon rcd-m37 system? (passive or powered). Is this information free or not.

Free or you can tempt us with $$. Your choice.

Self-powered would work but it would have to run on full-range amplifier (from the speaker posts) or Line Level signal (from the OUT RCA jacks) because this unit has no Sub-specific output. It's no bigge as the sub would naturally discard the higher frequencies via its own amp's and speaker

How can i test my rca output jacks with a test light? pioneer deh p3100ub. hooked up spkr, nothing. tried one rca plug to white(lt) and then red(rt). Unit has 4 rca jacks, 2 for subwfr and 2 for front...

:) the rca jacks have to be connected to an amplifier,, their signal is too lay to even light a bulb.. you have to connect it to a car amplifier and then from the amplifier to the speakers..

Just so you'd know,, once your deck plays and you hear music on your speakers through your normal speaker wires,, RCA jacks work..

Ok you have 4 jacks,, 2 subs and 2 front.. These should connect to a preamp,, which takes 4 inputs and allows you to equalize or adjust how the music should sound,, now from the pre-amp,, it runs to an amplifier,, thats powers the subs and another that powers the speakers.. Some amps have 4 inputs so you can use one amp for your subs mids and heights..

for example a basic music system is

1 cd player
1 pre amp
1 amplifier (4 inputs, 4 channel out)

you bridge 1+2 and connect this to 1 12" double coil sub woofer

the next 2 connect to 2 mid speakers example "rockford or ev 5 / 8 " and 2 tweeters for heights..

Thats a kicking tricked out basic car audio system,,,

Hope that helps you understand how it works..

How do I hook up a non powered sub woofer on my htr-5630?

You will need an amplifier or 2 channel receiver. Hook the sub out rca jack to the rca inputs on this new amp or receiver and hook the speaker terminals on sub to speaker terminals on same amp or receiver. Your Yamaha receiver doesn't have any power for a passive sub.Just pick up any old fairly high powered receiver for fifty dollars and you're good to go.I use old dolby pro logic receivers as they are a dime a dozen today. Good luck.

Connecting a Sony Subwoofer SA-W2500 to a STR DE 598

It is based on your sub-woofer type..whether powered or passive sub woofer..
Assume that you have powered one..RCA sub woofer jack is the best to feed it ..you should use RCA sub woofer output on your receiver as well..good luck

Amps on woofers are fine just won't hit

your probably making your amp run to low ohms if its a 2 channel amp bridged to one channel you can probably only run it at four ohms

Also seeing as your subs are 2ohm dvc you can't wire them individually to 2ohm and use each channel separately. So i'd recommend buying a 2ohm stable monoblock or running it at four ohms. a 1400 watt amp'll still pound at 4ohms and it'll extend your amp's life span

About technice sa-dx930

The one plug on the back of the receiver is an rca-type plug and is designed to be connected to a powered sub, which would also have an rca-type input. Even if you connected it, this output carries a line level signal and is not powerful enough to drive a speaker. If your sub has 2 connectors (same as a normal speaker) then you have an unpowered or passive subwoofer. You would either need a powered sub, or to use an external amplifier of some sort...then the sub output from your current receiver would go into the external amp...and the amp connected to the passive sub.
Hope this helps.

Sub-woofer Malfunction

sub can be detecting signal from your amp. maybe your amp has some small output when in standby mode. some amps throughput signal from satellite boxes when they are supposed to be off.
try shutting off that signal source as well.
good luck
