My Nokia worked fine till a week or o ago the headset stopped working. I could plug them in but the little symbol that pops up when their in wasn't popping up so I tried played some music and it played from the speakers so I was wondering if anyone had this problem and if there is a solution for it.

i'm getting so so tired of these ridiculous problems. you shouldn't own a phone if you can't solve these sorts of prblems yourself. pathetic!

Easy. Replace with a new speaker. If you have a valid warranty period than contact your nearest NOKIA service center.

maybe you had your phone wet on the bottom part where the headset is to be plugged in. bring it to the nearest repair shop for the just to clean the metal contacts then, your icon will be gone

If you still have the headset, connect it to the headset connector and remove it, do this several times and check everytime you disconnect it. If this doesn't help, please check if there's any short on the headset interface. Clean it with a soft cloth or cotton dipped in alcohol or spirit.
Your last option is to open it apart and check the headset interface internally. I would recommend you to visit a mobile repairing shop and get it repaired.

your headset socket may be shorted cleaning it may fix your problem.
