How much water gal/hr is reasonable to expect from the furnace humidifier overflow in "0 degree" farenheit outside to heat a 1500 square foot normal midwestern house to 72 degrees inside having a norm

I had a new Bryant furnace and humidifier installed 12 months ago. The humidifier over flow of water flows into the laundry tub to drain. Sometimes I see what seems like a fast flow of water coming out and when the furnace is off there is none -as expected. What is a normal humidifier overflow rate in zero degree outside to heat a 1500 sq ft 1970's insulated trilevel in the Midwest to 70 degrees?

There is no flow rating because it would depend on too many factors. What you do need to check is the float valve. The water valve is opening and closing like it should be but the reservoir is filling too much.

How many square feet is the humcclbp2317-a-- good for?

Yours is 17 gal a day. Could only find Honeywell which recommends their 12 gal up to 2000 Sqaure foot home. So yours should by good around 2500 to 3000 square feet

Is the humidifier supposed to turn on when the furnace does. Does it turn on more often when the temperature outside is higher.

Hello, Yes the humidifier should turn on when the blower motor on your furnace kicks on, this way you are only using water and power when the furnace is on instead of wasting it when when the furnace is off. Regardless of outside temperature the humidifier will only turn on and off with your furnace.

How much water should be draining from Aprilaire 550?

thats too much.. and a waste of water... you should install a good ball valve water shutoff inline and let it trickle.. ideally, it should be net zero water wastage but there's always a bit.. my water take-off drain runs about once every 5hrs and its about a litre (its siphoning water out of the combustion chamber as well as the waste water from the humidifier.. (you can get those ball valves at homedepot for about 6bucks -- they're usually compression fittings as well)

When furnace cycles on the humidifier overflow spout has a tremendous flow of water that pours all over basement floor. Is there a valve problem ? I can connect a drain tube from this overflow spout to the...

If the water stops when the heater is not running then the humidifier is working fine. I know it seems like alot of water but that's how it's designed.

Chronotherm Three thermostat vs Buderus Logamatic Computer.

The outdoor thermostat senses the the temp of the outside air, and adjust the boiler water temp according to what it knows is best. The reason that the boiler is running longer is the old boiler used to be constantly sending 180ish degree water to the baseboard, now that water may only be 140ish degrees. The idea behind this is to reduce off cycle heat loss, as the greater the temp difference between the air temp and water temp, the quicker you loss heat. The theory in boiler run time is this, the less times it starts and stops, and the long run times will give you the best efficiency. Hope this answers you questions.

Honeywell furnace humidifier thermostat & other

sounds like to me you have a condensation pump attached to your hvac system. this can be used to pump water produced during the cooling of your house when in the a/c mode. if you have a typical bypass humidifier, you will have excess water running past the water panel and it must be sent to a drain of some kind. I would imagine the pump is being used to get your bypass water to the drain. another scenario may be that you have a 90% condensing furnace. if your exhaust pipe for the furnace is made out of pcv pipe, it is a condensing gas furnace. it will produce water when it is running. the water if from the combustion gases being condensed in the secondary heat exchanger. this is normal. some condensing gas furnaces will draw combustion air from inside the house and some will have a second pvc pipe that is used to pulll combustion air from the outside of the house. either way, it is not dehumidifying your house. the humidifier should be able to keep up if it is runnng properly. you should have water running out the bottom drain of the humidifier any time the fan on your furnace is running and the humidistat is calling for humidity. if this is not happening, it is not wired properly.

Aprilaire 600: water only runs in "Emergency" Heat mode

When your unit is on normal the outside unit works and the inside only the fan runs. your heat pump does not remove any humidity when it operates so the installation cotractor did not wire it to operate then. you can change the wiring on the humidifier to operate all the time by wiring it to the fan (g) terminal then it should work just turn it all the way to the lowest humidity when you are in cooling mode.

Aprilaire 600 Humidifier

J-

I had this problem several years ago. In order for the water to flow, the outside temperature sending unit must indicate to the controller that it is less than 60F. If not, the unit will not operate outside of test mode. Check the temp outside where your sending unit is (could the sun be heating that side of the house?) and ensure that the circuit to the sending unit is working. I had a bad wire splice inside a wire nut stopping the circuit. Took me a long while to figure it out.

If the outside temp and your sending unit circuit is ok, I wish you luck on your troubleshooting.

Aprilaire 600 bypass water flow rate

The water is only dispensing over the evaporator pad while the furnace is in the heating mode. When the furnace finishes cycling the humidifier will also stop.
