All three of your current answers are correct. Purchased media is stored by Amazon and is available to any device in your account. This does not apply to a "rooted" device such as a Kindle running android.
Kindle data is stored ion the cloud and should be available to you if you log into your account on your new device
Transfering Amazon Files directly from one Kindle to another will not work, due to the imbeded security encriptions that deter file sharing. If both Kindles are registered to the same account you can download the already purchased book via the your Archived Folder or by going to the "Manage Kindle" page and downloading it manually via a wireless or USB connection.
When you log into the new kindle you will have access to all the purchased items installed on your old kindle. Also any data that has been backed up to the amazon cloud.
