2001 GE side by side refrigerator model TGX26KRDA WW Beginning about a month ago the refrigerator temperature rose to 60 deg. F. Freezer remained well below 0 deg F. Checked baffle which was open and checked evaporator coils which were not iced. Cleaned condenser coils which were only mildly dusty. Reset freezer control to 5 (mid range of temp) and refrigerator to 9 (coldest). In about 24 hours temp in fridge side was 40 deg F. Now same problem with 60 deg Fridge. Checked baffle between freezer and refrigerator side which is open but refrigerator temp is still 60 deg. F after overnight wait. Freezer compartment is very cold about -10 deg F. The compressor and condenser fan seems to run constantly. What is causing this problem? I wonder if defrost heater is running constantly. Help is appreciated.

Is the fan that moves the air from the freezer to fridge running If there is a switch in cabinet somewhere the freezer door would contract it, with door open push in switch hear the fan both are good. Don't hear fan check evaporator or freezer fan and that switch it may be a duel switch open light closed fan run. Tricky there are light switches, when out light on or when switch is in its lights out

SOURCE: GE TFX26KRDA WW 2001 side by side refrig/freezer w warm fridge

Cleaned the condenser coils which were dusty but not severely so. Checked the evaporator coils which were NOT iced. Reset the fridge to coldest setting and freezer to #5 (mid range of temperature) and waited a full 36 hours. Fridge temp is 40 F and freezer is about 0F. Not sure what is different except coldest setting on fridge. Warm weather is here but not warm enough to require AC. Temps in late afternoon in house about 77-80F. Any thoughts are appreciated because I suspect this problem is not completely resolved.

I'm skeptical that temperatures are calibrated properly.Does the Evaporator Fan run
(whenever the Compressor runs, and the Freezer Door Switch is closed). One possible issue may be a defective defrost heater. I suspect a non- or partially-operating defroster.

Ge freezer temp changes from -3 to 44degs and the ice melts and runs on the floor. I replaced the main board about 2 yrs ago, help?

Self defrost mechanism appears to be ok sinc eyou can get down to -3 degrees. The culprit in this refrigerator is the temperature regulator or electronic thermostat in this box. It should not allow the temp to swing that drastically from one extreme to another.

GE Monogram will not accept freezer/fridge

Turns out the problem was because we didn't shut the freezer door tightly. The temperature re4set itself in about three hours. All OK and no expense :-)

My ge profile fridge won't stay cold. the fridge is at 45 deg.

First things first - pull the fridge/freezer out from the wall, and look at the bottom.  You should see a metal coil somewhere - it probably needs to be cleaned.  Next, somewhere around the compressor (the big bulky thing in the bottom of the freezer) should be a fan blowing on the coil - make sure it is running.  That MIGHT have been the buzzing noise you describe - dirt on the fan blades or the fan hitting something.  Additionally, you can check the fan on the inside of the freezer - if it is stuck and/or not working, the air won't circulate properly, and you'll get pockets of different temperatures in your freezer.
Best of luck!

GE GSS25WGMCC, Ice Forming On Freezer Interior Surfaces

i had the same problem and i replaced the defrost heater and it worked fine for about one month but now having the same issue. Most of the time from what I have heard it is the defrost heater (about $60 part). I might have another issue going on with mine like a defrost thermostat. Your defrost heater is right under the panel on the inside of the freezer section. remove white panel on back side of freezer section and remove two screws and two wires and replace it and you should be fine.

GE ESS25XGMC WW Side by Side

its possible that your water tank has frozen up, try turning the refrig off and leave the doors open for about 10-15 mins and try it again. if that works just reset temp controls a little lower..
