Hi, my brand new 7258 Singer Stylist sewing machine screeches too much. I've cleaned it, oiled (Singer oil) it and changed the needle three times already, following brand instructions. Still screeching too loud, like it's going to break, even the moment after I cleaned it. I bought it 2 months ago. Please help.

Without being able to personally troubleshoot, analyze, and diagnose the screeching, no one is going to be able to solve the problem.

That said, for your understsnding of the gravity of the situation, I provide the following info and warnings!!!!!

Loud screeching like you describe is INDICATIVE OF either a pulley-belt joint slipping at very high speed, OR a BEARING in a high speed application binding, NEITHER OF WHICH IS GOOD!!!!!

To prevent possible total destruction of your machine, I strongly suggest the you unplug it UNTIL you can get it to a QUALIFIED repair TECHNICIAN for troubleshooting.

The symptoms you describe are indicative of a very serious problem which could result in severe damage to your machine!

SINGER 7258 Stylist. How do I oil my Singer 7258 please?

Question edited for clarity and made two questions into one.
Duplicate deleted. Refresh the page to see your post published.

One drop of Singer Sewing machine oil, or light machine oil at every part that slides or pivots. You will see some joints have a countersunk recess and a hole. There are videos in the link.

Where is the feed dog adjustment on a Singer Stylist 7258

The Stylist 7258 does not have adjustable feed dogs. To do free-hand stitching (or darning), you need to put the darning plate over the feed dogs. This plate was included in the original accessories with the machine. You can buy a replacement from many sewing machine supply vendors, including https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/darning-plate-singer-087294.aspx .

The manual for the Singer Stylist 7258 is available on the product page: https://www.singer.com/Stylist-7258-Sewing-Machine . The current link to the manual is https://manuals.singer.com/Manuals/RetrievePDF/851 . See page 8, the accessories list, and page 12, using the darning plate.

I hope this helps.

I have a Singer Stylist 7258 and i cannot get the thread to pick up the bobbin thread .

Make sure you are using a brand new needle and that the machine is threaded correctly. If those suggestions don't help, then it's possible the machine has been knocked out of time. May be best to take it for service.

How to change needle position (left, right, center)

Which stitch are you using? As far as I can tell, the Stylist 7258 only allows you to change the needle position for straight stitches. If the machine is set to Pattern 00, press the right or left buttons from the 4 arrow keys in the manual setting arrows until the needle is in the desired position.

For all other stitches, the left/right arrows adjust the stitch width. This is described on page 30 (in English) of the manual. You can download the manual from the product page under the support tab: http://www.singerco.com/products/2101/7258-stylist#type-support . The direct link to the manual is http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/4951b452e963a8fe1dd1fd83fbac68a35df8cf19.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Why is the needle tip hitting the shuttle?

First make certain that the needle is the correct length and it is up into the needle clamp as far as it can go. if that doesn't work, the needle bar may have come loose and is too far down. Another possibility is that the timing has slipped. Your authorized Singer repair center should be able fixit easily.

I have an error E4 on my Singer Sewing Machine. I have searched the manual and cannot find anything on this error. I have only used my machine a few times. It is brand new.

if it's still under warrenty I suggest taking the machine back.
try changing the needle
try turning the bobbin the opposite direction
if you have a front or side loading bobbin case try reinserting
the bobbin case back in the machine
or it could be the motherboard has gone bad, or the foot pedal

Singer stylist 7258, will only pick up bobbin on one side when doing zigzag stitch

try using a washable stablizer or interfacing.
if that doesn't help then it's possible that a gear or cam may be worn enough to cause the machine zig zag not to work properly
