I have tried almost everything short of taking the phone apart. also tried Odin mode but it was on that for about 48 hours.

change the optional memory to memory card as the phone memory is filled completely.generally messaging uses the phone memory to operate.Messaging->options->settings->other and change the memory is use to memory card.that should solve the problem. Wipe it to start over. Sometimes when you change or add something like a THEME or a download it HOSES the BB completely. So delete what was on there and don't download a theme or any other wacky add-on.

Get a can of air and blow it into the 30-pin connector and headphone jack to clear the phone of dust and build-up. This should clear up the problem. I learned this from an Apple Store Genius Bar associate.

hey man ok so go ahead and pull out the battery ok re install batter and before you turn on again hold the volume down key and then turn on the phone while holding down the vol down button when you get to the system recovery screen it will say 2e recovery just reboot systom from there and you should be all set

This sounds to me like the LCD Backlight has gone bad. You will need to get in contact with your carrier to inquire about warranty service or replacement.
