When the problem was only exterior, we could always reach over and open the door, but now both sides are effectively jammed, I'm worried it could possibly be an expensive shop visit and not the DIY project I'd intended to do myself to re-seat the rod in the handle on the exterior. Someone mentioned a trick with a slimjim or even a coat hanger, but I'm unable to find any further info or interior door diagrams to envision the interior mechanism.
2 or 4 door? If 2, you should still be able to use key on exterior, and I don't think they have a child lock on 2 doors, so I'm guessing 4. With car unlocked, can't you open rear doors from outside even with child lock on?
Testimonial: "Yes 4 door, and no, the rod had already slipped from the exterior mechanism meaning we could only open from the interior, when my 13yr old decided to find out what that little switch does to enable the child lock :) Effectively jamming the whole caboodle leaving me trying to find how I can disable or repair one side or the other to get the door open. No key for the rear doors, obviously. They lock and unlock fine, but both handle mechanisms are now effectively disabled."

If power windows and the same window does not open the child safety switch is a very good possible reason.

hi if you get a metal coat hanger open it up and put a hook on the end slide it down between the glass and the door by the door catch you should be able to knock the child lock off so you can open the door you have to get this just right and it can be a bit tricky but it does work
