Trying to get into service menu of a sony bravia(kdl 37s5500).Everywhere I look says key in DISPLAY 5 VOL+ POWER.All that happens is the tv powers up on hitting 5.Also the picture is very white,contrast,brightness does nothing.

Well written question but I would first call Sony Customer service to see if known issue or if the data base shows any reports or recalls for this issue.......

try to force on the tv un plug and use remote when tv iv completly off. and press display 5 vol+ then power and see if tv stays on and in service menu look for eror code .if tv stays on if it cutts off then one of lamp in screen is defective. its mean screen defective

try to reset tv from service menu sony service menu display 5 vol+ power from remote and see the reset menu and reset whole tv functions.

The model you want iformation is is discontinued. However you can find the manual at for a small fee. Hope this helps.

This most often is caused by a partially depressed, and stuck, button on either the remote or the set. It occasionally happens due to some water or oil getting into the remote or the button the set, or because of a stray signal coming from a neighbor's place. I had a TV once that the sun streaming through a window activated the channel up on the remote receiver.

It's almost always the oddball thing.

If it's none of these things, you've probably taken a power surge that's damaged the logic board of the set, which require repair/replacement.

With the remote and TV off, press these buttons in order DISPLAY, 5, VOL-, POWER. Be careful!!!

Just talked with Sony Support today.

It seems that Sony in Denmark had sent out new software updates (over DVB-T) but also some wrong TV's got updated as well. This caused my DVB-T tuner to not function anymore so I wanted to try a factory reset and it fixed my problem.

So I was instructed on how to do this. I have a Sony Bravia KDL-32P3000 (which should be similar to the U3000 and S3000 as well).

This is how to do a factory reset of your Sony Bravia KDL-32 P/U/S-3000 TV.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE SERVICE MENU, YOU CAN EASILY CAUSE YOUR TV TO MAL-FUNCTION!!!! IF YOU FOLLOW THIS GUIDE IT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Set your TV in standy (use the green power butten on your remote), RED standby LED is ON on your TV.

Now press these buttons in this order on your remote (pointing to the TV).

5
VOL UP (+)
GREEN POWER button

NOW BE CAREFUL! Dont press any keys just for the fun of it!!! IT MAY DESTROY YOUR TV.
You should now be in the service menu. It will show up as some green letter/numbers spread over the screen (mine are a bit hard to see/a bit faded). In the upper right corner you should have 2 letters TT (two t's).

Now carefully press key 0 and then key 8 on your remote (they should be shown on the screen after the two TT).

Now wait a little while (more than 10 seconds) and your TV should reset with factory settings, just as if you had just brought it home from the TV store.

My Sony Bravia LCD Model-KVL37S400A is not getting the Main Power supply. The LCD is not getting switched on. When i am trying to switch on the set nothing is happening.

This TV will work in Australia as its multi system and auto-power TV.
