The security type on the router is probably newer than the hardware on your xp machine. who ever you rent from may reset the security to WEP or the newest your computer supports for you.

Turn on the wifi. Usually that is done by sliding a switch on the front of the laptop, or by pressing a Fn/F1-12 key combination. The F-key usually has an icon that looks like a radio tower or radio waves, The Fn key needs to be pressed down when you press the other key.
In the notification (tray) area, click on the Network icon and select your router. Click Connect and enter the password on the bottom of the router.
Fn/F2 probably turns the wifi on/off but your problem is you need to connect to the new device, and enter the new password. In the tray (notification) area, click the Network or wifi icon, find the new device (You may have to click Connect first.), connect to it and enter the password when prompted.
In order to get WiFi you must have access to a supplier.
If you have a computer and a router with WiFi you are ready to go.
Press Apps > Settings > WiFi
This will show you all the Wi Fi suppliers within range.
Click on yours and enter the password
Do the same routine when using a free WiFi service on your travels , MacDonalds for example. The password will be on display or ask a member of staff.
First of all, you must have the password which is set for your home WIFI. You can't do anything without it. Assuming you got the password, Go to tablet's Settings, turn on WIFI. When your WIFI router is displayed in the list, select it and you will be prompted for the password. Enter the password and click Connect. When you see Connected, it's done.
serch for the network in your network at Control Panel\Network and Internet\Manage Wireless Networks
now find the device name and enter password if required. you will be connected
It sounds like a problem I had. While traveling, my laptop connected with a WIFI network with the same name as my home network. It was my son's. He gave me his password and I entered it on both my machine and my wife's. When I got home I had the same problem. I tried everything including re-installing the WIreless drivers a few times. I could cable connect but every time I tried wireless, it told me to enter a password then came back with "SORRY CHARLIE" Called my son and he said probably the wireless password was written to my registry and my laptop was telling me to give the password. As my router was expecting a different password it wouldn't connect. The cable connection did not check the registry since it uses a different driver set. The registry entry for the router password must be deleted. The only way I knew how was to re-install my operating system. This is throwing the baby with the bathwater. I am sure someone out there knows how to find and erase a Register entry.
Which password do you mean? The wifi passowrd or the admin password?
The admin password is likely to be password (if it hasn't been changed) but the Wifi password you will only be able to see if you can access the router.
Easiest way is to use an ethernet cable between the router and the computer. Open up the netgear admin page (admin & password), then on the left hand side click on Set-up and then select wireless settings. Your wifi password will either be written on the next page or you will see four boxes of numbers with a blue spot against one of them. That one is your passowrd.
1. access your router's GUI: click on internet explorer, type in the address bar: 192.168.1.254, then click on GO or ENTER it will bring up NETWORK AT A GLANCE PAGE OR THE GUI now at the top page click on HOME NETWORK, then click on WIRELESS SETTINGS or EDIT STTINGS (it'll asked you to enter a system password. if you cant remember it just click on 'I forgot my password and it'll give you a clue. and f you still cant remember you can click on 'I still cant remember my password and this this time it'll allows you to change it but first you have to enter the sytsem key that can be found at the bottom part of the modem under the bar code the one inside the parenthesis its a total of 10 numbers) Now, just click on home network and wireless settings again then it'll bring up IDENTIFY NETWORK PAGE. change the network name to your last name or any name, then for the wireless channel, change it to 10, make sure its WEP-OPEN, then select use custom pass phrase then enter 10 numbers that would serve as your wireless pw. then at the bottom part find power setting then change it to 10, then clicked on SAVE. now on your ipod try to find the network name the you created then if it asked you for the wep key or pw...that's gonna be the 10numbers that you're about to create on the GUI.
