How do you stop your trunk from opening when you put your car in reverse?

Open the engine compartment and apply voltage to the alternator positive terminal or the boosting terminal in the engine area if you have one,this will give you power to open the trunk once the negative power is applied too.

Is this an aftermarket key opener. ? The brain box for this unit is some times mounted behind the left kicker panel by the left foot of the driver. And they get wet from foot water ie snow. Rain. The yr of ur car sounds like this unit could be water damaged. Have a look. Is u see green stuff allover the contracts thats ur issue. As well some times older cars remote fob controller is not isolated from other sigs. Ur truck does it only pop open when parked in one location ie home or work u might be picking up a similar radio req as ur button for truck lid as they have different radio freqs to control different things

The controller is bad, i have seen this many times, all other functions work good except trunk release, good day

dont cars steal have key latch on the trunk/ my dads Jag is an 06 and has a key slot in the trunk

hello,first try to locate your starter motor,there is a big cable connected to solenoid switch up to battery,try to put positive cable first before to another battery,with care,try to open your trunk ,not for starting,remove your battery for changing,ty

Starter motor on this car is imposible to get to..better find the post forward of the drivers side fuse box in the engine compartment where a bunch of wires come together. This is a positive terminal attach red jumper here put the negative jumper on any bare metal bracket of the engine

you can charge the battery from the engine compartment. check your owners manual that is the correct place to jump and to charge the battery.

Is the key that you have a genuine Toyota key? If so, is the key Black or Grey? If you have the grey key, you only have the "valet" key, and it will not do what you want. You need the Black key. Put the black key in the trunk and turn it 90 degrees & remove it. This controls the inside lever on/off for the trunk. The key hole will either be horizontal or verticle. One way lets the inside lever work, the other position stops it.
