Your computer is older than dirt. It came with Windows XP and Microsoft does not support XP anymore so you could get hacked. Now if you look at sites like Tigerdirect.com they have a brand new desktop 10 times faster than yours for 199.00 with Windows 8.1 but if you want to risk using the old computer do what the other people said use the recovery in the old computer or use your startup discs

If your computer didn't come with a cd/dvd, there's a good chance that you may have a recovery partition in your computer that you can access to restore to factory settings as well.

I think you might have got a DVD with your machine.. Please put on that DVD and restart the machine.. and go to Bios and make change the setting to boot from the CD drive.. and it will get booted to the recovery dvd and simply follow the instructions from the DVD.. plz not that your data will get deleted once recovery is done..

Error message "restore failed 0x00000070"

Step 1:
Which operating system ?

Use an external memory device such as a DVD, flash drive or external hard drive to back up the data you need to save from your eMachines computer. Any data that isn't saved to an external source will be erased when the computer is restored to factory settings. Remove any discs that are in the optical drive and unplug the computer's peripheral devices, such as an Ethernet cable or scanner. Do not disconnect the keyboard, mouse or monitor. Click the Windows "Start" menu and choose "All Programs." Navigate to "eMachines" and choose "eMachines Recovery Management." Click the "Restore" tab. Click "Password Settings" if you have not already set a recovery password. Type a new password in the text box and click "OK." Click "Restore System to Factory Default." Type the recovery password and click "OK." Click "Next" to wipe the eMachines computer's hard drive and begin the recovery process. Select "Finish" and wait for the eMachines computer to restart. Use the series of installation prompts that appear on the screen to create a new user account for your operating system, set the system date and time, and set up your Internet settings.

I have emachines model W3650 and want to know how to set back to factory setting.

(1) Go to start menu(2) Click on all programs(3) click on Emachine(4) click on Emachine recovery management(5) Click on restore on the bar across the top(6) click on restore to system factory default
Some emachines can be restored by pressing ALT+F10, but not sure on your model. Give it a try if you can't restore it to factory defaults using Emachine recovery management.

Emachines t1116

Usually e-machine and other pc's have a factory restore setting set up in case of an error. You can; according to emachine tap the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time when the eMachines logo appears. Press "Enter" and follow the directions on the screen to recover the operating system back to factory condition. I hope that helps, if those keys don't work try F11 at the emachine logo. Good luck.

I am trying to restore my emachine to it's original factory settings as I am going to sell it. I have been told that I need to go in the emachines folder in programs but there isn't a folder...

emachines does not provide any factory restore option in computer, in fact you might have received factory restore disks when you bought it, which can be used to restore your computer Or you can check with emachines if they can provide you these disks
hope this helps

Restore emachine W1136 desktop to factory settings without disc

I guess you can try it again to make it not able to start up such as to rename some important windows file. Always a good option to backup first.

You can chat with emachine tech on the following page.
http://emachines.com/support/answers.html

They might be glad to help. Someone might be always a little bit more courteous than others. You can reward them a most satisfactory feedback anyways.

Someone tried the Alt+F10 to get that restore option, I guess it might work with your emachine too. You might like to try it while starting up the system too.

Something to try if you didn't.
(1) Go to start menu
(2) Click on all programs
(3) click on Emachine
(4) click on Emachine recovery management
(5) Click on restore on the bar across the top
(6) click on restore to system factory default

Did you try the number key while starting up or the R key or maybe with the Alt key? Hope that help.
