The f18 code that pops up in these models is related to the "contra-rotating" mode unique to this line. This mode is very tough on the gears and drum and they end up binding. The only "real" fix is a new drum assembly, which dyson has run out of for service parts. You can run the washer without using the contra-rotate mode and the unit will not act up. Other than replacing a no longer available part, some owners have found that by washing some oil-soaked articles (such as shop rags or towels drenched in motor oil), the offending parts binding issue can be lubricated away for quite some time. When the f18 error returns, they just wash some more oil into the problem area to make it disappear again.

Check and make sure the door is pushed all the way down until you hear a click. If it starts with the next cycle, then your door switch may be bad. It's a pretty easy fix, but I would watch a video at least before doing it yourself.
There are two plastic gears on each end of the motor inside the washer. One of them broke. These gears make the tub spin. They are inexpensive. it is rare that both gears broke but have both of them replaced. Then you don't have to worry about the second gear breaking in a few months.
Does It just shake bowl left & right, it will soon give you fault code 56.
Well its a board problem you will need to get technician to fix this board, three resistors(R129,R130,R131) need to be changed for a 1MegOhm resistor.
Possible fault in the water level sensor. IF the sensor does not work then the program controller will not proceed to go to the next cycle as it thinks there is no water to rinse. similar problem when it does not spin or activate the drain.
check underneath the washer for a relay called wigwag. It changes the gear in transmition which allows the spin cycle and rinse to spin. Very easy fix if this is the problem, About $15.00 part and 10 minute change
I also had this problem - the machine was full of water and it flashed up F18. I had to drain the water out of the machine using the small pipe located next to the drain filter. There was loads of water to drain out. I used my oven roasting tray which was perfect for the job. Then I undid the screwcap filter. There was a lot of really black water that came out, along with about two pounds worth of coins and some hairgrips. Now my machine works perfectly !
